My assumption is the raiser tripped up, or hit two pair, right there, there is no point jamming until you get hit either end of your hand, both of which will probably be good.Honestly, though, I think if you're going to raise at all, I would wait and do so on the river, as you are apt to make more money by doing so. At this point, you have a decent chance to scoop, and are definitely taking the low IMO, I think you need to go for the overcall attempt, and try to get the pair of fives to call at least on 6th. If he folds 6th for one cold, then you still probably see villain bet the river, in which case you make the same amount as you did to start. If you get the call on 6th, you can opt to raise if you don't believe the guy with the open pair of fives will overcall the river, and call if you think he will, and you earn an extra bet by doing so either way (The latter, obviously, saving you a bet).My 2 cents.

A lot of times, especially at low stakes, people over value a made low, not realizing that even with an 8 he is still pretty far behind. I often would raise the turn, knowing I am open ended for the scoop (unless the raiser has 75). The real issue is 6th, i Think, when you make your hand. It's a VERY strong hand in this game, and you've locked up at least half the pot, if not the whole thing. I think going for an overcall is a weak play. I think the bettor with his paired board will call the raise nearly ALWAYS, and if he calls the turn will call the river. You are beating his two pair, his 8-6 low (which if improved on he can rarely scoop). I also think he will often slow down on the river and not lead even if you just call 6th. The original bettor may even three bet you, and that's the best position you can be in this game. So Raise ****** raise!

5th is fine. You got check raised by someone with most likely a made low although it's an 8 low. You are open ended, but you're only drawing to 6 outs instead of 8 because a 2 and a 7 are both out. 6th and 7th are both good. You have to get money into the pot when you have the best hand or the probable best hand. Especially when you think you are scooping.Trying to check raise 6th or 7th would be a bad idea. You would only be missing bets.
