copernicus 0
This looks like a pretty dangerous flop, with flush and straight draw possibilities. You may not even be a favorite at this point. I would check/call anything except a pot/repot. If nothing falls to complete a straight or flush then I would pot the turn.
mk 11
Okay, I check the flop, it gets checked around, turn comes 2 . Hero?
copernicus 0
Okay, I check the flop, it gets checked around, turn comes 2 . Hero?Well, I had said pot it above, but I guess your point is that by checking the flop and giving a free card I lost my market?Thats true, but if you pot it on the flop and a dangerous card turns it costs a lot more to protect your hand. Whats dangerous: anything that connects with T9, especially on the top side (say 12 bad cards top side, discount it to 6 on the bottom side), and spades (6 more of those). So almost half the deck is scary. Even with a T falling giving you the boat, it could give him a higher boat.I guess this highlights the importance of position again. If you were in LP and it were checked to you on the flop you can bet it (though still maybe not a full pot bet) and build a bit of a pot if one of your boat cards or a blank falls. I wouldn't pot the flop in this spot because I liked to keep the pot small--you are still going to be able to give them 2:1 on the turn, but you aren't risking as much and you only have to fade one card rather than two. Maybe I'm a weak-tight nit, but that's how I approached it with decent hands out of position (flopped nut straight, top set, second set, etc.).
