2 Hands From A $5 Mtt

Recommended Posts

Here are a couple of hands from a tournament I played last night. The first hand is in the first hour, and I don't have much of a read on MP3, although he seems fairly solid. He hasn't been playing too many hands. I was a little surprised to get so many callers pre-flop, as nothing like that had happened so far.Full Tilt PokerNo Limit Holdem TournamentBlinds: t50/t1009 playersConverterStack sizes:UTG: t1730Hero: t3735MP1: t3663MP2: t6135MP3: t4540CO: t1060Button: t4675SB: t1355BB: t3655Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is UTG+1 with J :D J :D UTG folds, Hero raises to t300, MP1 folds, MP2 calls t300 (pot was t450), MP3 calls t300 (pot was t750), CO folds, Button calls t300 (pot was t1050), SB folds, BB calls t200 (pot was t1350).Flop: T :D 8 :D 6 :) (t1550, 5 players)BB checks, Hero bets t1100, MP2 folds, MP3 calls t1100 (pot was t2650), 2 folds.Turn: 7 :club: (t3750, 2 players)Hero ?????Critique on the flop play is also welcome. The second hand occurs with either 11 or 12 players remaining. UTG+1 is fairly tight. I shove the flop in the first one as the pot is already substantial and you have 4 opponents. I'm not going to fold with this board and I want maximum fold equity against the group of players.I push over the top of the second hand PF.

You push all in on the turn, there is no way this guy called you to the turn with a 9....only way is if he is holding 99 and thinks its the best hand. I would put him on top pair, possibly TPTK. Your all in should get him off any draw he might have.Second hand, Reraise and see a flop

First hand I think you played fine, but I prob bet around 900 on the flop. The turn is certainly a sticky situation as we have a pretty weak pair, so I check and see what villain does.On the second hand, reraising pf is a bad idea imo. We have a very nice stack at this point, but definitely don't want to get it aipf. We need to trust our read that villain is fairly tight, and give him some respect for raising in EP. Call and see a flop.
