He made it cheap and I could fold on some nasty flops leaving me just with 5k. I thought that I was one of the best players left and I wasn't desperate to double up or scared of getting hurt. On the flop I didnt lead out since I think it would lead me into a tough decision if he raised me. If I bet, I'm forced to go all in no matter what amount he raises. So I checked and hoped his move would give me some information. I wasn't too concerned in giving him a free card. If a Q hits on turn, It would suck if he played AQ and I would not like to see an ace obv. His bet on flop says no K to me. The flop isnt dangerous and he'd probably check behind with AK (the only reasonable hand with a king IMO). So I shoved and hoped that he would call with a mid pair. Thoughts?

How has the play been at the table? If there's a read that the chip leader is aggro, I might put KJ or KQ suited in his range of 3 betting. Especially if he has a tight read on you and MP1. I this were the case, leading out makes sense. Also, QQ is the possibility. I agree, AK would probably check this flop. I like the play. I'd probably do the same without any good reads on the players.

I'm not entirely sure about your reasoning process here.First, you say you're not too concerned about giving him a free card but then admit that you wouldn't want to see a Q or an A. So you do have to be a bit concerned about a free card. You absolutely don't want to see another overcard fall on the turn.Second, why would you expect him to check behind with a King? The pot is already 5125 at that point and you already have 25% of your stack in, so it's not exactly an ideal spot to slowplay TPTK. I think most players with a K here would lead the flop after you checked.

Absolutely. I cant see any reason to check behind with a K. He raised two players preflop and got a call. The SPR is barely over 1, so TP is going to get it all in as early as possible. Pot control here means betting out.
