saying hello/noble poker question

Recommended Posts

Hello All,After months of reading a plethora of phenomenal insight and valuable advice, (in addition to the extremely humorous FLAMING!!) I have decided to get my feet wet in here.A little background, (a very little):1. Started playing about 2 years ago.2. I play online and home games.3. about 100,000 hands to date4. read all the required reading5. enough is enough, I'm sure ya'll don't really care.Anyway, Just wanted to say hello and let you all know I look forward to lending what little knowledge I have and I also look forward to flaming and being flamed. For my first thread I wanted to ask everyone if they think that there is any good fishing at Noble Poker. I have played there for about 3 months now (and had a TERRIBLE run of cards BTW, but have managed to keep my head above water). I like to play 1/2 LHE, am I making a mistake keeping my money here? It seems like everytime I pick up a great run, it is followed by an even worst downswing run. I'm sure it's rigged!! (Just kiddin) Anyway, any advice will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to here what ya'll think and I please, go easy on my, it's my first day!!

A thoroughly well thought out and constructed post in my estimation thus no flaming required. Welcome to the family lol.Never played on Noble myself so i really cant comment on that side of your post, but a few of my friends have reccomended that i give t a try.I currently play on Uk based site Ladbrokes and a more European dominated site Bet365 which is full with Gus Hansen-Esque Scandanavian's.SnG's are my speciality, so would you say that is worth my investment? Not sure of course if you've really had a chance to dabble in that side of the action because as you say your more of a Limit cash game player. And the same goes for me i guess ive not had a chance to look at the 1/2 limit tables but if the SnG's are anything to go by then your guaranteed to have alot of fun, and bump into a lot of fishy play and players.

I have dabbled in SnG play on Noble, but the starting chip count is not desirable for me (1000 chips for ALL tourneys) it seems to me that it is simply an all-in fest (as it is on most sites). I am attempting to become a stronger, and smarter tight aggressive player and I don't believe that SnG's are as valuable to this dedication as are cash games. I like to play tourneys, but I tend to do this live as play lends itself more to play that I feel comfortable with. Rebuys are too tempting. I have had some success with freeze out tourneys. Noble has a new SnG promo going right now that has my interest through. 100 million dollars (Queue Dr. Evil! :-). I haven't looked into the specifics, but it looks like a step process that you can start at as low as a $2 buy in. I think that I will steer clear though, I think it was Phil Gordon who said, [Paraphrase] "It's easier to win consistant money every day than it is to win a million chips in one tournement"Anyone else have any Noble experiences?

Well if your looking to Strengthen your game as you say then i cant disagree that Limit hold em is the way to do it. The 1/2 Limit, sounds like your taking it seriousley enough, as opposed to most of the players today who jump in at the deep end of NL HE after believing that they are ready to take down the WSOP ME from catching a few episodes of the WPT.The Smaller Limit cash games is where is started for me about 5 years ago now and i guess i feel more comfortable with my game and the relative success ive had online to just go down the SnG route.I find it to be more fast paced and fun with the chance to win larger sums of money in a shorter space of time... I know what you mean however about the all in fest that some SnG's enevitably turn out to be but as ive progressed from playing the 5$ entry to 50/100 $ entry then im finding alot more respect for the games of myself and indeed my opponents.1000 starting stack on the SnG's on noble aye hmmm, 1500 generally on bet365 where i play most of my SnG's think i prefer that. But anyways good luck with your game and its progression and kill those 1/2 tables!!P.s this post wasnt supposed to be Patronistic, which reading it back it could be construde that way :club:

Noble seems fine to me, there are plenty of bad players. However, there just aren't enough players at any time - if you ony play one limit then there is probably only one table being played at a time (two if you're lucky). One thing that's worth making sure you pay attention to is that the table texturechanges a lot - you join a table with a 45% player see flop and 30 minutes later it's 20% seeing the flop - not paying attention to that is -EV...The stacks in tournaments are on the low side, and SNGs turn into all-in fests early, on the plus there are winner-takes-all SNGs which some people like. Some of the satellite MTTs can be good - they sometimes get <20 players which makes the structure very slow, you get down to 3 players when blinds are 100/200 and ~20k chips are in play (assuming enough of the players are all-in-donks). Don't know why you would play the SNG versions of the same satellites...

I know what you mean about having a greater chance of winning money in a shorter time period, the allure is more fun, and it does tweak the gambler in me. I just hate make the "right" play, only to loss a large pot to the "wrong play" that gets lucky. Perhaps playing limit allows me to deal with these losses better. I enjoy tourneys more than cash games. But I enjoyed playing Playstation in university more than studying an I am sure that the later was more benificial in the long run (As now I make good money AND I still play). A bit of a weak analogy, but I'm sure you get the point. Thanks for the response and GL on the tables.

Noble was the first place I ever played. It. Sucks. Especially if you're playing anything that's not NL hold'em. I suggest you get your money off of there and go somewhere else (PartyPoker is what I suggest). Really though, any place is better than Noble.Welcome.

I agree, seems like I can take a table from 60ish to 30ish all by myself. Anyway, I am not to worried about Multi tabling currently as I am still note making and trying to focus on playing a different game than I have for the first two years. By this I mean, I am not so much looking for profit as I am looking for experience in certain situations (ie fold raise situations, overcards, basically SSHE situations). Have I ever played with you on Noble? My screen name is the same here as it is there.

I am thinking about a jump back to party. Unfortunately the first place I played when I went online was Party. I was not a good player then, (I am still not great, but definately better)and got handled very quickly, although I did get a nice hat in the mail! I know that I am a stronger player now than I was, but I still have the memories of the spanking I took. Thanks for the advise, I think that I will get my cash off of Noble and see where I'm at with the masses on party. Are the 1/2 games fairly soft?
