Seabrook Poker Room

Recommended Posts

The Nashua one is at the Elks Lodge on DW Highway across from Wendy's. I have played there many times. They have a good variety of tourney buy-ins day to day. Thye had closed for a while because their liscence lapsed. My overall opinion is that it is a shady operation. The dealers are not professional although they don't make too many mistakes. The dealers often comment on the hand as it is in progress and on any given night you will see many of the dealers playing in the games. They have sit-n-gos but very rarely do they go off. Also if the tourney is running a bit long they will add a huge ante to the blinds to finish it off. They did it to a final table I was on without giving any warning. A 4 hour touney came down to a crapshoot.I haven't been ot Seabrook but I heard that it is very well run and has large tourneys, sit-n-gos, and $1/$2 holdem.Rockingham Park recently opened up and they run a very nice room by the "charity" standards. They started off wiht just Friday nights but are expanding their schedule. I was there last night. It was one of the first couple Saturday nights that they have been open so it wasn't too full. Their $125 main event tourney only had about 30 people but the sit-n-gos kept on running consistently. The buy in on the sit-n-gos ranges from $40 to $200.I was very impressed with Rockingham after playing so many times at Nashua. I 'm not sure if I will make the trip over to Nashua again compared to Rockingham.

I heard from other forums that the Nahsua one does not compare at all to the Seabrook one. Seabrook is supposed to be very nice. How far is the rockingham one from the MA border tho?

Rockingham is off Exit 1 of Route 93. It is literally less than 3 miles over the border. About 35 minutes from Boston. The Rockingham website is www.gspnh.com. Nashua is www.montecarlonh.com.

I played almost every weekend at Seabrook this summer. I strictly played the $1-$2 LHE games, and to be honest, I'm not sure if it's consistently beatable. The play is obviously horrible, but they have that weird rule that there limit on betting is $2 all the way to the river. The tourney's don't seem all that great either, from what I've heard. It seems like they take a lot off the top of the prize pools.I played in Nashua once and they had a pretty sweet Omaha Hi/Lo game going after people busted in the tourney. Same $2 limit on every street though. But yeah, the tourney's don't really seem worth it because the blinds go up very fast so they can get more tourney's in and they take quite a bit off the top from what I understand.

what do u mean "2$ limit on every street?" Its a limit game right? do u mean that there can only be one bet on every street? Please epxlain.

They do take 25% off the top as the games benefit local non-profit organizations. In reality the take is not much worse that many casino tourneys. The 10:00am daily tourney at Foxwoods is $80+$20 so to do a $100 tourney at one of these to only lose 5% more isn't too bad.

Blinds are $1 and $2. In a normal game, the betting would be in increments of $2 pre-flop and on the flop, then the bet would double to increments of $4 on the turn and the river. In the games at Seabrook (and pretty much any "charity" poker game in New Hampshire) bets are in increments of $2 on every street all the way to showdown.I remember Daniel writing something in the blog about a similar structure at some charity thing he was at in Florida a couple months ago. Basically same rules apply in New Hampshire:He was trying to explain to me the bizarre rules of the casino. For example, there is a $2 betting limit in the state of Florida, so the games are $2 across. Kind of bizarre, betting $2 on every street. In order to circumvent that law, the casino offers sit n’ go’s where you can play for anything from $200 to $1000. http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-jour...&ucat=&Oh yeah.. and I think the "charity" is taking care of the greyhounds at the park.

I play there (Seabrook)nearly every weekend - Sat and Sun. Charity changes from time to time. I believe each charity can have 10 days per year.VERY well run room. :D On par with a lot of casinos I've been to. Very friendly dealers and staff, mostly friendly players. Few "pros" to contend with. :club: The 1/2 game is what we affectionately call "monkey poker". :D I have beat it regularly, but its almost against limit poker logic. I play it between sitngos. There are a few older ladies who do quite well at it week after week. The $2 max bet is NH law. Capped at $8 per betting round. The sitngos are usually pretty juicy. I'm ITM approx 75%Only played one tourney, and did not rebuy(one rebuy tourney per day)Open Thurs thru Sunday, adding Wednesdays in 07.I think I was the guy from FT that told the original poster....There's also a very well run game at Rockingham Park in Salem NH. I haven't been there, but my totally reliable sources say its almost as good as Seabrook. (PS Seabrook was mentioned in High Roller Magazine as one of the top 10 sites to visit in the Gambling universe...its on the Seabrook site. They should be a model for Charity poker rooms. Now, If I can only get my own state to start thinking clearly....PS. Nashua is down for the year. Rumor has nasty things to say about being bounced from HI for questionable activities. I played there a few times, but management is lax, dealers do play from time to time, and I did not feel it was all on the up and up. Too many close friends between dealers and players. The "C" word comes to mind. :D (But thats just my opinion.)seabrookgreyhoundpark.com

this place is ridiculous. the 1/2 game is out of control. its not really 1/2 limit tho, its really called 1/2 NF by the locals, NF meaning no fold. The tourny structure sucks, with the blinds doubling ever 15 or 20 minutes. still fun an well run tho. anyone going soon? im there like once or twice a week.
