you guys remember the open ended str8 flush draw?

Recommended Posts

I posted a hand earlier this week where I had an open ended str8 flush draw and pushed all in on the flop. Lots of ppl felt that it was a bad move since the size of the pot was so small. But because of the level of stakes, there are so many fish who will call with 2 pair or an overpair.Heres another example to try and show why it works at the lower levels.Game #1531780963: Hold'em NL (£1/£2) - 2005/12/09 - 11:06:29 (UK)Table "Tombstone" Seat 5 is the button. Um..I don't recall the original thread, so I can't speak to that, but, I think you're leaving a lot of money on the table this way. When you have a huge draw, do you not want the pot to be built up? I mean, your kamikaze method will take down a lot of smaller pots, might even win a big one here and there. But, I think a lot of times this method will find you behind a set, and I'm not sure I even like the idea of being against two pair, really. I would think a limit based idea of how to bet would be ideal here. Bet 1/3-3/4 of the pot to build yourself a large pot, so that when you do hit, you get paid handsomely. You do yourself a disservice I think to push everyone but two pair/set's out.Just my thoughts.

Well I dont do this every single time. It depends on the situation. How many people are in the pot, the strength I sense from my opponent etc.But the biggest reason I do this, is because of fold equity. I want people to get outta the pot with TP for the times that I dont hit.

No, I understand that. And you are in theory, minimizing losses, as you're a favorite most every time. But, this is where I tend to think, that, building pots is better. Let's say you win 10 pots of 40 bucks (avg.) a piece over 10 sessions, using that all in method. Profit = 400I think, over the same 10 sessions, similar tables, if you build your pots with 1/3-Pot size bets, you're looking at something like. If you build those same pots with this betting style, you may win only 5 or 6 pots, but they're going to be upwards of 100. Profit = 500-600.See what I'm getting at?
