how many hours before i can calc and hourly rate

Recommended Posts

Ive just started seriously keeping track of my play. I have played between 20 and 50 hours at different games and limits. Im wondering how many hours should i play before i can assume thats what i will be making long term. Any thoughts?

If your playing limit. Assume you will be making 2 BB/100 hands. I do BB/hour as I don't have poker tracker. That is what you will make per hour. If you are playing $2-$4 then $8 per hour. Over the months your records will show you how you stand compared to that rate. If you are consistantly doing 3-5 BB/hour make that your target rate. Changing limits all the time doesn't help for figuring out an hourly rate.If your playing NL...I don't know. I play limit cash games.

At around 10k hands, you will start to get a vague reflection of your play. Don't be surprised though if your results are different after 50k or 100k hands. Some stats won't vary much, but others, such as BB/100 hands could vary dramatically.
