rookie looking for some insight...

Recommended Posts

Hey All, this is my first post on here and I am looking for some insight. Ive been playing hold 'em for about 6 months. I'm profitable since starting at casino limit games and no limit home games. However, I have lost money (albeit not much) at online limit games. I only play 3/6 and 4/8 at the casino and I usually play lower limits (.50/1.00) online given my lack of experience. Can you help me understand the strategic difference in how I approach these different games. I know they are both relatively low limits, but if someone has a few minutes to respond I would really appreciate it! Thanks! Im tired of losing in the comfort of my own home. I would like to cut back on my trips to the casino and play more online (assuming I can be profitable this way). Also, I was wondering what percentage of hands most pros play in tournament vs cash games...

Online, you absolutely must look at betting patterns. Stop playing your cards and play the people. 3/6 and 4/8 in a casino is about equal to .5/1 online, so you're where you should be.Buy SSHE. Read it. Read it again. You should be playing about 20% of your hands in a cash game. Don't play tournaments if you're looking to build a bankroll.

First off, tell us what you think your main problem in adjusting is. If we know that we can give you more specific advice. It could be a psychological problem for all you know. The more information we have the better diagnosis we can give.Secondly, regarding hand percentage, don't worry about that. Just worry that you are playing the right hands for the game and position you are in. I'm going to echo everyone with suggestion that you read small stakes.
