Both series tied 1-1 thanks to PK Dealers having home ice advantage. PK was way ahead but almost lost it thanks to a weak performance from San Jose goalies. Short break for All-Star weekend then it's the final game of the series on Jan 30th

Congrats to Canadian Gothic and PK Dealers for winning Champions League season 4! The Big M's put in a stinker last night and never made it competitive while Puck Warfare posted a respectable 2.5 but got smoked by a 6 spot from PK Dealers.

If the season ended today The Big M's would NOT be part of the Elite A division next season:

Whalers 202

Canadian Gothic 174

Shortstackers 168

Shoot Loose 153.5

PK Dealers 152

Wait, how does this work now? 5 teams in a division?

Wait, how does this work now? 5 teams in a division?

As per AHL rules thread,

***************CHAMPIONS LEAGUE CHANGES FOR 2018-19*********

4 divisions of 5 based on +/- in first season then relegation every year after that

-Elite

-Upper

-Lower

-Bottom Feeder

16 game season- play each team 4 times

Top Seed gets a bye

#2 plays #3 in a best of 3 series with #2 seed winning all ties

#4 seed avoids relegation

#5 seed is relegated

League final is a best of 5 series

Winner of league final is promoted to higher league

Prize money weighted by division from top to bottom, incentivizing teams to avoid relegation and try to move up

Going to make a small tweak and go with a 21 game season again playing 5 against each team in Division and 1 inter division game.

Top Team in Elite plays top team in Upper, etc.

Also going to simplify scoring to wins, losses, ties. No OT at all. Last tweak, tie breaker procedure will see +/- be first, then head-to-head.

not a fan, its only 1 game out of 21, but why have imbalanced schedules?

Re: other changes

love the tie game!

love the +/- tiebreaker

Only real reason is stats purposes from previous seasons and also think it could be fun to have one game in the middle of the schedule that is inter-division. One other change is I'm planning to have the season end at the all-star break which would likely mean some more 10-11 game nights which is plenty.

I like the divisions and I like the Champions League, even though I have run like crap since inception.

Why arent the rankings based solely on record..I realize power rankings, and stats are more accurate..But we dont give the Stanley Cup out to the team with the best Corsi...There should be luck and excitement involved a little bit..IMO..
