Toews Rule and Designated Toews Rules Players for 2018-19

A reminder that any forward on your farm who has played 125 or more regular season NHL games and any defenseman who has played 150 or more regular season NHL games is a Toews Rule player and is automatically called up to your active roster after the auction and they don't count towards the maximum 20 players you can have on your farm.

 

In a sense they go into limbo where they aren't on your farm but then magically appear after the auction.

 

New for this season teams have the ability to designate a player who is on your farm who has played less than the number of games to trigger the Toews Rule to become a designated Toews Rule Player and they are then treated the exact same as those players who have played more than the number of games to trigger the automatic call up. These players can never be sent back down to the farm ever again.

 

The only reason to designate a player as a Toews Rule call up is to create space on your farm to make draft picks. If you don't need that space then there is no reason for you to do this since you can call them up for a free look in October before making a permanent decision on them.

 

It is up to you to look at all of your farm players and post which ones are Toews Rule players. If you don't post them they still will get called up but you are just making more work for others.

 

You can post who those players are in this thread or in your post with your signed 2018-19 roster.

 

You can decide to designate a player as a Toews Rule Player at any point before you make a draft pick that puts you over 20 on the farm during the draft. The reason for this flexibility is to give teams time to decide on which player to designate if they are aren't sure which player to designate to create the room or if they want to pass on their draft pick and designate nobody.

Congratulations on a great career to Big M's Future Hall of Famer Henrik Zetterberg. He spent his entire career with one team and was part of many AHL championships. He joins Lubomir on the Big M's "Ring Of Excellence" at the Scarborough Big M's Arena which is home to the winningest team in the history of the AHL.

Do we still have the same rules for exemption list? I dont think it changed but just checking

 

ie Tobias Enstrom sweden and JP Pageau 6 months injured..

 

I can put them on the exempt list and it wont count against my cap, and they just cant play all year

They are both eligible for the Exemption List. They don't count against your cap and cannot be used at any point during the regular season or playoffs.

there is some weird formatting issue if you use a bunch of dashes or periods together to create a line that causes an error. Greaseball ran into the same thing as did I when I copied and pasted Serge's roster. I removed them and posted Serge's roster okay.
