That Grant McGegg guy loves Kotkaniemi but he is super biased. Seems like he could develop into a gamebreaker, though, and I don't think Hayton has as high a ceiling.

He is going to get every opportunity to be the #1 center in Montreal. Not this season, but soon since the team is in tank mode.

and sorry about not having everything up to date yet contract wise. I'll be working on that the next couple days and will have it all done hopefully before the weekend but if not over the weekend for

AHL GM's European Summit 2015 was a blast! Whalers really embraced the culture....     As per tradition of trades whenever owners cross paths... Whalers and Swackers have agreed to swap .25 both

Kotkaniemi will be a stud c-man. Almost Kopitarish, but maybe more Eric Staal. I dont know if he learns and adapts very quickly, but I could see him becoming a true #1C and be an elite scorer in the NHL.

(Elite for me usually means top 20/15)

Oh boy, that draft had my head spinning. Never had so many 1st rounders.

My thoughts on the draft.

1. I was not moving off of Dahlin

2. Tkachuk at 3rd? Really

3. I was hoping that Kravtsov would drop down to 8th but got taken at 6th

4. at 8th was hoping for Kravtsov and stumped what to take. Didn't really like Barrett Hayton but don't think the Canadiens drafted a good prospect in Kotkaniemi. So I took Hayton

5. Really wanted Evan Bouchard at 11 and glad I got him.

6. At 12 I did like Noah Dobson but draft 3 D? So I went with the Port Perry kid in Ty Dellandrea. If Ty can't play hockey lets hope he knows how to fish and play poker.

Late to the party, but I agree with 1 and 2. I had Tkachuk 7th on my list.

I had Kravstov at 14. Would have certainly preferred him over Barrett Hayton though who I had at 22. I had Kotkaniemi ranked 3rd.

Hate Bouchard in Edmonton, but I did have him 9th on my list.

Had Dellandrea at 11 and Dobson at 13.

My picks were 28 and 32. When I sent JP my list I told him I expected to get 2 guys I had ranked between 17-19 (Morgan Frost, Liam Foudy, Aleksi Heponiemi) Was pleasantly surprised when he texted me that I got Ty Smith at 28.

You guys will remember this draft in a few years as the one that helped create the new Cheap Thieves dynasty:

4. Filip Zadina

9. Jesperi Kotkaniemi

10. D Adam Boqvist

21. Dominik Bokk

41. Jonatan Berggren

No way I should have gotten either Zadina or Kotkaniemi at 4 and 9.

I like my draft with where my picks were.

Two forwards who I have little doubt will be NHL players and 3 dmen later to see if they develop.

You guys will remember this draft in a few years as the one that helped create the Whalers ongoing dynasty:

70 Whalers Andrei Altybarmakyan CHI F

No way I should have gotten "Son of Six Fingers" at 70, or even 3 for that matter. Svechnikov, Dahlin, Altybarmakyan is this whole draft....everyone else is just fodder for senseless discussion.

You did good getting NHL ready players and a couple upside players. Good for a team looking for help this year and next year rather than waiting long term. Not huge ceilings on this list but they should make for servicable M's. Best pick was Perunovich at #77.

Considering I had 3 top 10 picks I don't think it's a stretch to say that I acquired the most high end talent in the draft.

Steelheads did well too, I think, except I'm not as high on Jay O"Brien.

I had the sixth pick. I wanted your guy, obv, Daniel, but didn’t even expect you to him with the fourth. Do like Kravstov, Kupari should be a player, o Brien could go either way, LOVE Veleno except have to wait for him, and Two-Last-Names might or might not pan out. But I did swear out loud when you picked fourth. ******.
