cheating in a live game

Recommended Posts

Multiple tourneys in one day, one dealer, no money in the bank before the cards fly...There are a lot more issues here than just the supposed cheating - I think you should all go learn a little bit more about poker, some general rules and guidelines "and stuff" before you play anymore.

I would pay, but I would In ever play with these guys again. I used to be quite a skilled cheat in my younger days, but have since realized the error in my ways...and have also gotten good enough that my play alone makes me money. I don't play homegames too often anymore, but i know that the type of cheaters you will typically run into are not usually skilled enough to create a serious edge for themselves, maybe a slight edge, but nothing that cannot be overcome if you are a better than average player their edge will most likely be nil...just look for out signals, bottom decking, 2nd card deals, peeks, false shuffles, marking, and pulled bets...I have seen players pull back bets in a good number of casino games due to an inattentive dealer. Watch out for that too. Online poker is not free from cheats either, though most online casinos have tracking devices that detect when players play together often and or have instant messaging services running while playing games. It is still relatively easy to "run" a smaller table with a partner or two. If there are only five or less players on a table and two or three of the players are sharing card info, it can (in certain situations) give them enough info to get a decided edge. If you suspect a cheat, watch them closely and tighten up your game until you know for sure what's going on. If you catch a cheat, either confront them or leave...you never want to get injured or worse over a card game, and if someone is cheating you never know how dangerous they might be.

Don't be dumb. Nobody that is skilled enough to cheat the way you explain is doing it at a $20 home game tournament. The dealer was probably just peeking at the cards like a lot of guys do in home games....to keep themselves entertained because you guys where probably taking your sweet ass time between EVERY single hand playing like it was the WSOP or something.Pay up, be a man and honor your commitments.
Sorry disagree with Mr. Don't know how to read a post guy here. It is obvious that the guy knows he got caught cheating. Would you agree to give the last tourney up if you had won it fair and square? That guy knows that he has been caught, besides it is their fault for not making people pay up front.

Yeah it was winner take all. I really appreciate all your comments and suggestions. I think i'm just going to pay him up and not hang out with him anymore. A friend like this is not worth it at all.

If you gave your word you would pay...then pay. Simple as that. You simply cannot "decide" you were cheated AFTER THE FACT. If you did not speak up at the time, and left that day with an understanding that you owed $60, then you owe $60. Period.

But he wasn't POSITIVE the guy was cheating. He only found out after the fact when the dirty dingus admitted to cheating. He might not have said anything at the time because if dingus wasn't cheating, then the OP would look like a jerk.Anyways, pay him $40, give him the stink palm hanshake, and move on with your life. Like me with that prostitute.

Wow you are dumb! There is no way that this guy spent this much time cheating for $20!!! There is just no freaking way!
I really have no idea what point you're making. In no way did his post indicate a huge effort on the part of the cheater to cheat. It's not hard at all to cheat the way the people did in the OP's post and it doesnt' take much effort. The total prize pool turned out to be 180 which is a decent chunk of change, but it's naive to think that peeking at cards and hand signals don't go on in smaller prize pools than that.

Yeah if you think that no way people will cheat in lower limit games, maybe that's is the exactly the place they should be cheating at since no one will be suspious of it like you. He can just make $180 every day doing this which to me is not a small amount.

WOW...You truly are a mental midget aren’t you?? In order to give adequate hand signals the dealer would have to know what he just dealt the players!!! There is no way in HELL that a guy with this kind of skill is using it even at a profit of $180 for the entire night against his friends! Which remember he would have to split with the dealer...morons...meaning an overall profit of $90 for screwing over your friends!Further for the guy who said I do not know how to read a post correctly...maybe you missed the entire part where the guy continually denied cheating.....

you have no idea what you're talking about. seriously.who says he has to split the profit. it isn't some universal thing that if two people are cheating they split the money. The OP said that the dealer was peeking at the cards before he dealt them out to the players which is not a hard thing to do at all. YOU JUST LOOK AT THE CARD.

Pay up, but don't ever play any gambling game with this person ever again.Actually, better solution, cheat him harder. learn some stacking tricks (to get good enough to trick those morons it only would take a couple weeks, and do some sort of AA vs KK stack in a cash game for like 50 bucks, put the other kings on the bottom. There is your money back.

For the entire thing to work the dealor would need to know what cards the players have for it to work!! It does not freaking matter if the next card is an ace or a king of the dealor does not know what cards help the players!! WOW get real!

mmkay. seriously, it's not hard. you just look at the cards while you shuffle and then do a couple fake shuffle to keep your cards on top. Deal the cards and you know what each player has. I'm done with this thread and you because i'm right and you're wrong.

OR play him str8 up with a different dealer and just win your money back that way
