If I have a pair and a flush draw, and there's that much money in the pot, then I don't really care if people are folding, as your hand plays well 3 way or 2 way. I don't want to just call and get blown off my hand on the turn with that much money in the pot.

Its impossible to get 'blown off' your hand here. What are they blowing you off it with, a naked flush draw? That's the only worse hand that can blow you off your hand. Other than that you're getting blown off your hand by a hand you're behind :club: You don't really have any fold equity and although you're almost surely a 45 to 50% flip here with dead money in the pot, with almost no worry of losing action if the flush hits, and possibly the ability to save some equity if the turn bricks out. But again this is only if you're reasonably deep with the villains. If they just bet $50 into a huge pot and only have $50 behind, then sure ship it in because the money is going in no matter what even if you brick the turn. Its just kind of a math problem really, and I suspect its not hugely different either way. Just depends on stack sizes.Mark

I went to the casino tonight to play some cards. I had been having a pretty good session when this hand came up. I was playing 1/2 NL. I bought in for $100. About an hour into the game I had already doubled the stack. During Monday Night Football they splash the pot with $100 each quarter. It hit my table twice. The first time I was sitting with $250 with 6s 8s. Everyone limps. Nine players see the flop come As Ks 8h. Agro-old guy bets $50 gets one caller. Action to me with 1 guy to act after me and two cards to come. What is my move here? Pot is at about $120 + $100 splash.
Shove imo

Splash pots suck. It completely disrupts the game and makes people go ape shit with J5os. Caesars LV is doing this for MNF (dun dun dun dun). $50 for every FG and $100 for every TD. Most of the 1/3 tables would have 5 and 6 way aipf when the pot was splashed for $100. The floor man would hype it up and call out the action on the table as it happened. I was at the only 2/5NL game running and they splashed the pot for $100. UTG folded.........LOLOLOLOL. Everyone else limped and we checked the flop/turn. On the river, a LP player bet $100 which looked suspect but everyone folded. LP had TP/GK and the utg dude said he folded 72os which would have been 2 pair. It tilted him for a round or so. This game was playing waaaay too deep for them to be fucking around with splashed pots. The standard pf raise was 30-40 and most were 4-10K deep with a couple of 1K short stacks. It was a really good game. Anyway, I hated it. this
why would you hate free money tossed into a the middle of the table?

In the 1/2 NL game at my B&M, a push would probably get 2 maybe 3 callers. Definitely gambling. I like the line that the O/P took. Used his skill to go home up $400, which is pretty impressive given his original buyin. That's better than $40/hr - maybe it can be done after all.... ;)EDIT: SOMEONE TELL THAT GUYS FRIEND IT CAN BE DONE AFTER ALL!

Because it can effect the outcome of the hand and this game was playing waaaaaaaaay too big for that nonsense. Does that make sense? If I were in the 1/3 NL game or the 3/6 LHE game, I very well may feel the same way. Probably not though. The 100 would mean a lot more relative to the stack sizes.

?? I'm so confused, normally you make way more sense imo :)Its just one hand. If you feel like the splash makes the hand play too big, just wait for AA/KK/QQ and if you don't have any of those hands, just fold preflop. EZ Game.Mark

It's not about the hand playing too big, but the stacks were really really deep in relation to the $100. I just didn't like it. I know it doesn't make sense but getting KK here is exactly what I wouldn't want. . Let's say I have KK and raise to 100 p/f. The splashed pot would have an effect on other players decision making p/f which would then effect the rest of the hand. Most stacks are over 1000BB's deep and there are some players who don't mind moving the money around. It was the best game I had found the whole time I was there. Example: I sit down and fold UTG. Several limpers, the button raised to 40, the sb folds, the BB r/r to 350, folds to the button who calls. Flop: KQx rainbow. The BB pushes all in for 4K. The Button calls and has the BB covered. turn/river uneventful. BB has AA and the button shows 1010. I immediatly pull out my entire BR and put it on the table. good lord I'm rambling and not communicating myself very well.

Didn't read rest of thread but OP...but In the words of Teddy KGB: "I will splash the pot whenever the FACK I please!"
It's the rare same-Rounders-quote hat trick!
