elkang 0
Yes, they are watching the money but I think it is more they are watching the drama and the hole cards.Believe it or not poker is a popular spectator sport for many. It is unique in that it directly helps the poker world with an influx of money and players. No other game or sport even can say as much.

There's a reason edited poker brodcasts normally show 90% all ins and express pot sizes in $$$ instead of chipcount though. Most people watching think that someone winning a $1,000,000 pot means someone just won $1,000,000. I'm glad for all watchers no matter how little they understand the big picture. Especially, if they directly put money into the game.As for the main event, I think its a good one at weeding out many players and I think it is still a very profitable tourney for the best players. And where else can you win such a prize? Still I do expect to see less pros at the final table, but more than a few new faces that deserve to be there.
oogachaka 0
I believe that in order for the health of tv tournament poker, WSOP has to stay at 10k. The more people, the bigger the odds of an amateur winning and the better the story. There are other tours for huge buy in events to happen, and the WSOP itself is weeks and weeks long - plenty of time for the top players to pick up a bracelet here and there. But the key marketing tool for the WSOP is "Anyone Can Win". Invitationals, sponsored events and all that stuff is made for the pros, but the event itself needs to be accessible to the masses. Kind of like what the US Open is to the PGA.

JustinHEMI04 0
Screw high stakes chess ... high stakes Rock Paper Scissors is the way to go... I saw the championship on FSN last night and that is when I realized that poker is a waste of time, R.P.S. is a true game of skill!
