On that second hand, thank him for making two horrendous calls on 4th and 5th. Don't berate him for hitting a 6 outer on the river. And I'd much rather you see you check/call the river on the 2nd hand, as well.. Aces are essentially bluff catchers here, not something you donkbet multiway from first to act. Is the game really that fishy that you can bet one pair on the end there and come out ahead over time?On the first hand, I can't blame you for betting Queens Up for value. You get called so light there it's criminal not to. :club:

Why bet all the prior streets when one of Hero's Tens is sitting in someone else's hand? Granted I've only recently started learning 7-stud, but this hand doesn't seem to have a whole lot of upside potential.

He's not actively trying to improve like that. He's protecting and charging draws. Besides, if 'to tall' has one ten and you have two tens, do you put him on having the case ten or some whacky draw? Hence the betting. It's hard to lead the betting like that in a multi-way pot, but if you have the best hand, carpe diem. If the 3 of them are all drawing to inside straights, odds are one is going to catch by the river, so it's better to give them every opportunity to either fold or pay max for the privalege.Stud hi has a lot of gamble to it. It's not for the faint of heart, which is why I rarely play it past the orbit I'm forced to at a horse table... I couldn't handle the stress and insanity on a daily basis. :club:

Protecting what, a pair of Tens?
lol exactly. Sounds insane, doesn't it? But look at the villain upcards on 3rd and 4th. You *are* getting money into the pot with the best hand. Usually you'll narrow the field down, but that wasn't the case in that hand. It's the opposite of hold em in some ways: you don't make the nuts and get paid off, you continually get your money in good and come out on top in the long run (hopefully). I'm a competent stud player, nothing more, and I have no problem with his line except where I said so in my original reply. I'm all for hearing more thoughts on this, because if I'm the one leading the discussion, the discussion probably sucks and has litttle merit. Unless we want to hijack it and make it o8b. :club:

Every single bet was a bet of value in that hand !I knew exactly where i was at all times because if someone had made two pair or had a pair of jacks or better i would have been raised on 5th. also my queens were all live - and at anytime in that hand did i look like i was behind ?please note i am running 6bb per 100 on 37k of hands at 5-10 which is still a small sample for this limit.also my game selection is a key factor as to how i play

I think I understand now. Because there were no raises on prior streets and because of the cards showing, you felt confident that your pair of Tens was actually the best hand at that point. So you bet to drive out single high cards that might outdraw you and to charge other draws to chase. That makes sense. Doesn't sound nearly as insane as PLO...

heh.. take a dollar and enter the limit omahi hi donkfest tourney on stars. That's a much closer experience. Stud hi doesn't compare to PLO at all, really. Stud hi has much more in common with limit hold em. Both games were designed to have a showdown. Bluffs have to be fairly intricate and tell a story. And you need a 2nd party who's willing to listen to the story and not just tap on the call button like he's playing video poker. But once again, I'm no expert on stud. Regardless, re-read those hand histories and pretend Marichione checked instead of bet on each street. Whats the point? :club:

I think some people need to put down the books and take good look at how money is made.Any time in a stud game when you are playing 8 handed - with 5 people seeing 4th and 4 people are seeing 5th street you have a FAN****INGTASTIC game for 5-10 stud hi online. You also have to have an understanding how each player plays ~ for example "HOLLYWOOD DAVE" on FTP loves to float me on 3rd when he has a baby showing and two face cards under ( { k-Q}5 ) and looks to pick up a k-q on 4th and hopes to get a check-raise in on 5th- now most 5-10 or 10-20 - players just dont take the time to understand the level of the said players thinking- they just think he's a donk which is obv not true
