Recommended Posts

I know we are not to suppose to advertise on the forum, but this is for a good cause. In Houston (on May 21), there will poker tournaments held in which the money is being raised for the Suzan Koman Breast Cancer Foundation. Four winners will win a seat to World Series of Poker. The entry fee is $500.You can get more info at the following linkhttp://www.pokerchallengetour.com/EDIT: previously I had Philadelphia (on July 17), which didnt seem right when i first read it. Well the Philadelphia link was removed fro the site. I was only interested in the Houston one anyways.

To those people living in Houston... Do any of yall plan on playing in this?I'm considering it. If my job situation was different, I would definately be there.
if a company sponsored me to play (write off) i would...but im not ponying up 500 when there are lots of better ways to put that into a tourney for a wsop seaat

I agree that $500 is steep if the only consideration is the WSOP seat, but I was mainly thinking of playing because the money went to charity. The wsop seat and the other thing going on there are great bonuses. Its not too often that you get play poker where the money goes to a good cause rather than a corporate run casino.

Is there anyway you could go there without competing in the tournament? I would love to compete but Im only 17... I'd just like to hear Phil Hellmuth speak some words! :club:

If you look on the wesite, it does say that non-competing tickets are $100 (pretty high if you ask me). Not sure exactly what you're gonna get for that though.

I better get some good information and not "How to cry when you think you have the best hand but still lose anyways" If I do happen to go (unlikely) And I didnt get what I expected... I'd just bring up Bill Fillmaff and see if I could make Hellmuth cry right there! Haha just kiddin Phil! Im sure he could kick my arse... hes a tall SOB!

The whole final table get seats to the WSOP, not just the top 4. There's supposed to be like over 500 players in this damn thing... They're making a killing.

There is a lot of hostility and disrespect out there towards Phil H. True, he acts like a child when he suffers a bad beat, but as for his poker skills, you can't deny that he has them. The guy does have 9 WSOP bracelets. I think that he sticks to the "old school" fundamental, ABC poker while today's players tend to be more loose. I think it's a matter of adapting to the opponents strategies and tendencies. People should just give him a break. I'm just sayin'...

I have no disrespect towards Phil Hellmuth... why would I be interested that he is coming to my home town? I know he has a temper prob and I too think he is a great poker player... Im just joking around if you havent noticed...

Phil has a temper problem?THINK.Q: When does he let it show? A: Bad Beats - usually when he busts (i.e. when it doesn't matter.)Q: So what?A: Lots of otherwise solid players take crazy shots at him because they "know" it will tilt him. If it made people draw out on me with sick hands I'd dance like a monkey for them too. Phil has got a very enviable track record, count the bracelets, and for those of you who think he's over the hill, he just won the heads up. There's plenty left.So far as this tourney...ITS A CHARITY FUNDRAISER! You can add decent human being to the list.
