Depending on what part of Toronto you're staying you'll have 2 choices for legal limit games. The charity casinos in Port Perry and Brantford both have good 20/40 limit games. Brantford is about an hour West of Toronto and Port Perry is about an hour North East of Toronto. There is no legal poker in Toronto itself other than for a month in the Summer at the CNE.

I will likely be at either the Marriott downtown or the Hilton in Mississauga.Do these charity games spread lower limits also? I have some guys travelling with me that are only comfortable at between 2/4 to 5/10.?Brian Bass

There also Casino Rama about 1.5 hours north of Toronto that spreads 20/40 limit I beleive.
The limit games are drying up at Rama I've been told.Somebody I know who used to live there moved to Brantford because the NL games are taking the action at Rama away from the limit games and the 20/40 isn't strong any longer.

Yes, you'll find 5/10 and 10/20 games at both places. If you're in Mississauga you'll want to go to Brantford, from downtown it's probably about an equal distance to both. Brantford is a slightly larger cardroom. Both casinos only spread limit games because of how they are regulated.

I havent been to Brantford but you will find some of the best limit games you will see at Port Perry....$5-10, $10-20, $20-40.....The games are played 11 handed, which is another unique element...Games are filled with very bad players and depending on the time of day , it can be very wild..

I was at rama saturday, 10/20 was the biggest limit game running for the day, and even the evening up until midnight. And that was 1 table.

Casino Rama is awesome.(only other one i've been to is Fallsview, and its just almost as nice.I played 1/2 limit holdem bought in for a 100$ and won 100$ relativly easy. Just played tight ABC poker. weak players, nice dealers, good food.) I hate limit poker with an undying passion but the Nolimit tables had a huge wait./that is all

Fallsview for NL games.I'd advise playing 5 / 5 NL whether you play that high or not. The game is softer than butter, and you'll be able to spot the regulars in about 20minutes. Brantford is pretty soft as well, only been there once playing 2/5, but I hear its donkarific.

i hate how no one i hang out with plays poker, and my brother who does, hates live poker......i'm thinking of just going on my own though. Just for like a night, or a weekend...bus it there then bus it back....bleh...i don't know...would you do that in my shoes? I'd play something in the range of 5/5nl ... when ppl talk about how soft the live games are, what particularly is soft about them? like what mistakes do ppl make their that are so exploitable? besides physical tells? i'm really good with reading ppl and i think i'll have an edge over most with that regard, but what other weaknesses do live players have that online players don't? Like, if you had to compare online 2/4nl, what would you compare it to in a live game? 25/50 nl? 10/20nl? thoughts?

The 5/5 live game at fallsview is soft, and Extremely soft on Saturday nights. Theres just so much bad judgement from the players and its very easy to tell who will call what kind of bet. You can take them to value town so easily on every made hand. Its hard to find any specific examples, you're just gonna have to trust me. Don't try to steal many pots pre-flop either, raise premiums heavy, like 7 or 8 bb's. I'd compare the 5/5 game to 50max online.

For one there are tons of players out there that just want to see a flop and gamble, so for example in the 5/5 game, you may play tight as ever, and still get say 3-4 callers when you make it $30 from early position. As mentioned, people can't fold top pair when you take them to value town. Doesn't matter if they have close to top kicker, if they have top pair, and you bet soft, some will come right along, and call every street. Marginal pre-flop play, and poor hand selection. I was in a 2-5 game, where 2 to 3 players would limp for $5, then call raises to say $40 or $45. The same players would also make the same huge raise EVERY time they got a few limpers in front of them. Despite never just stealing the blinds, without fail they would make these raises. I would say just a real general willingness to gamble, and easy to exploit playing tight because they don't quite pay attention to your play, or still don't care when you do show some strength. A few drink decent amounts while playing, and you often find others that are not willing to leave until they lose their stack, meaning they are more aggressive on marginal hands trying to build, or lose and leave.
