You got it. The prize money for this year's World Series was spread out a bit more evenly than in the past, when the majority of the cash was concentrated in the final few places. This year's champion will take home $8,250,000, considerably less than the $12 million won last year by Jamie Gold (but still more than the $7.5 million Joe Hachem won in 2005).As you look down the list, the change in how the prize money is allocated becomes more pronounced. The players who finish 36th to 28th will win $285,678, while those who finish between 27th and 19th earn $333,490. So if you make it down to the final three tables and get eliminated, you "only" make $47,812 more. Not that nearly fifty grand is anything to sneeze at, hence the quotation marks. If you barely squeak into the money you'll double your buy in and win $20,320, which is a decent return after a long week of hard work. It's not as gaudy a number as $8.25 million, but it sure beats finishing in 622nd place. Otherwise known as the Bubble.I find it wierd that they made the whole final table millionaires in 05 with a smaller prizepool but this year with more money only the top 5 make a million or more.1 $ 8,250,000 - 2 $ 4,840,981 - 3 $ 3,048,025 - 4 $ 1,852,721 - 5 $ 1,255,069 - 6 $ 956,243 - 7 $ 705,229 - 8 $ 585,699 - 9 $ 525,934

I'll take some of that! Oh wait, I'm no longer in the ME......Oh wait... I never was, that was just a wonderful poker dream I had last night. Small wonder I was already at the final table already, playing heads-up for the bracelet....oh well... next year.

They should have stayed with the old structure. 9 millionaires in 2005 is much more exciting than 5.

Am I the only one that feels 9th out of 6500 in a $10k buy-in deserves a "lil" bit more than $525,000?

Nope, you're not alone. The payout structure for this year's ME sucks balls.

They definitely had enough to make the entire FT millionaires. Take it from the 300-150 player payouts... I agree 621 and below all deserve a double up, but the FT certainly deserve at least 1 mil!Next time I'm in charge I'll fix it!
