  1. In the for what it is worth category. I pre-registered this week and the the window for pre-registration closed today. You can request which day 1 you want to play but their paper work says they will not guarantee it. When I called them yesterday about the likelihood of getting the day you requested they said it is 100% guaranteed because they are "not even close to being full on any particular day."
  2. What is the temp in there? Smoking hot or ice cold.
  3. If it was anything but the Main event i would register in person. Traveling 4,000 miles with $10k in cash on me seems like a bad idea.
  4. Has anybody tried to pre-registered for any events? Truly frightening experience given that this is a multi-billion dollar corporation running this show. When you pre-register you can send a cashier checks, a wire, or a cash advance credit card deposit but first you must fill out a pre-registration form and wait for a confirmation email. I filled it out the form and waited and nothing happened. So I called the help number and someone immediately picked up the phone. The lady told me that only 1 out of every 10 people who filled out a pre-registraton form was receiving an email. So I aske
  5. I think two things come in to play here. Obviously the service and competence of the staff matters and I think competence is more important than service. In a tourney it is hard for them to provide "service" but a tourney that is well run, on time, with consistent application of the rules and sound rulings really improves the experience and your overall quality of play. The other thing I take into account (which may not be as obvious) is how often I play in that particular room. I tipped $500 to the tourney managers on a $16k tourney win in a room where I play often. The idea being next t
  6. Just posted on PokertrailsDaniel Negreanu just doubled up at the feature table. He got all-in with Ah Qh v Qc Jc. The flop is Qs xs xc, turn Kc, and river... 5d. Negreanu survives after a scarey turn card.
  7. Always laughed at people who claim things are rigged. However I just started playing at PartyPoker and I have NEVER seen anything like this. The beats are just brutal and non-stop. I honestly can't even believe some of the shit i have seen. I am 2-13 in situations where I have gotten my money in with the best of it and i am not talking about 50/50 races here.Had to vent.
  8. I figure since everyone is trying to improve their play (including myself) I would weigh in with two situations I see from players realitively new to live action tourney play. The first is the biggie and I see all the time. Shutting people out when it is advantageous to play pots heads up. Here is an example from a NLHE event at the Orleans. Down to 19 players and I have $6,100 left with blinds $1000-$2000. I am in the four seat with 77. Folded to me and I move all in. The guy in seven seat calls and the $6,100 represents about half his stack. It is folded to the guy in the BB who thinks for a

  10. Read it and promptly won the $540 buy-in event at the Bellagio for a little over $15K. Enough said.
  11. You may be right about Eskimo not actually playing in the game. He went into the room and was standing but I didn't see him sit. The reason this was memorable is that I was playing in the $540 tourney and some dumbass said there goes that guy ummm what's his name... Yukon Jack and me and another guy laughed or ass off at him.
  12. For what it is worth:I was out at the Bellagio over Memorial Day weekend. They have a new poker room that includes a high limit room with glass walls. The following players over the course of three days were playing in "the game" at various times. DoyleGiangBerman SrHarmonIveyEkimo ClarkCeline Dion's Husband (this may be where they are winning their money)A guy who looked like Habib but larger. The game looked low key and fairly "tight." Not necessarily tight in play but in mood. Didn't look like anyone was having much "fun." I guess at those levels it ceases to be fun and is all about wor
