oh when someone says i don't understand statistics and they are erroneous then the facts must come out.quick and dirty statistics are easier but in the world of minutia that is statistics there is a differance from rounding to the fifth or sixth or seventh decimal. probabilities are only about 20% of poker, statistically speaking.don't even get me started about average possibilities in a seven handed game with two players left post flop and calculating odds of making a flush with four parts before the turn absent a read what the pot odds must be to warrant a smooth call.but i forgot you are al

i accidentally posted it three times. (humor) well i had to prepare to play with most of the lurkers on this forum so I had to see how they thought. so i went and saw the ringer. (/humor)you raised my blinds,in broad daylight, you came in out of position and raised my blinds.for those that saw the movie that makes sense. for those that don't understand, don't worry you will get a courage ribbon. because for you it is in the effort not the results.i liked the line "Did you know Christ was a jew?" I about asphysix....couldn't breath i was laughing so hard. i did fall out of my seat.guess i won't

waaaaa. i went and saw The Ringer as a prep for the seat 6 tournament i registered for only to find that when i got back the tournament had already been running for an hour.i have a stack of 400 some odd left with the blinds at 100/200. i hit an ace with A10 off and tripled up.next hand i get AJclubs and go all in and get one caller who had KQ off. they hit a queen on the flop and i hit two clubs. i missed an ace or a club to stay in. finished 66 of 147. damn it. i thought it started at 8:30 central not eastern. oh well. i guess i will have to earn my own money to buy in to wpt events. lol.

The thing is, live poker is live poker. If one wants to simulate the live poker environment accurately then one should simulate all that is possible. If the burn card is not important then why not play seven stud with the first two cards up, the middle 3 down, and the last two up? fundamentally each player gets 3 cards down and four up. It is the same game. Isnt it?But back to the point. Each card is about 1.9231 percent. Meaning at the flop there is a 1.0231 differance. On the turn a 3.8462 differance, On the river a 5.7692 differance. X out of 39 is differant than X out of 40X out of 36 i

Does the FCP online engine burn a card like normal hold em?I recently found out that riverstars, ummm, pokerstars does not burn a card like normal hold em. to most the burn card seems meaningless. However, in the true interest of statistics, the game is fundamentally differant statistically when the X's change, even by 1 or 2 or 3. Each trial is changed by at least 2 percent. Repeated hundreds to thousands of times a great variance is seen. Draw two parralell lines and they continue paralel infinitely. Place the top line 1 to 2 degrees off of the bottom line and eventually the lines are not p

poker is dead: negreanu on the state of poker
Tsosumi replied to getarealjob's topic in General Poker Forum
reading Daniel's blogs one can see that several hundred thousand dollar swings occur when the big dogs play. so what is a 10K dollar entrance fee?Another thing to do would be limit "main events" to players who have gotten a cash in a qualifier for that event? If it is to be a true world series then hold regional qualifiers in countries, or nearest country that allows gambling, based on one's citizenship. How about a upper echelon tournament where in order to even qualify one must have at least one bracelet from the WSOP AND pony up a 1,000,000 dollar entrance fee.....no sattalite entries. The -
poker is dead: negreanu on the state of poker

DN is an idiot for thinking....lmao....just kidding. Did I get you attention? I respect DN and he nailed what I was thinking about the state of poker. I play in a ton of NLH tournaments and am sort of tired of hold em. I got into a home game and was looking forward to some baseball and jacks or better, but the rest of the players wanted me to teach them how to play hold em. good GAWD! Maybe I will try to organize a large Omaha event or the Omaha Poker Championships, the OPC. Nothing but Omaha. Pot Limit OmahaOmaha 2-7Limit OmahaOmaha H/LAwarding points to players how they finish in each event -
DN,When I had a similar problem with my IPOD, i went and reinstalled the drivers and it works fine. The other part could be the battery is conditioned to not last so long, but I would try reinstalling the drivers on the IPOD and see how that goes. Tsosumi

So I was playing in a tourney the other night and look down and see AA. I am in mid position so I just call the blind. It looks like it is going to be a six handed, of eight, pot. SB posts, BB goes something like six times the blind. Others fold around to me, I double his raise. Others fold to him, he raises all in, I call, and I have him covered. We turn over, he has KK. Flop comes Ad7h8d all diamonds matching one of his K. Turn comes 10 diamonds he starts hooting and holloring and pumping his fist then the river comes and is a 7d. He starts to rake chips in and is informed by someone else

The beginning stacks were like 4000 in chips. Had the Q6 off player had pocket sixes or fives I could have better understood hanging in. I would love to play that hand pre flop to river with that person 1000 times for $1000 bucks a go and see who ends up with the most money in the end. Yes, there were a lot of hands that could have been there but if I were to say where my weakness was it was giving my opponent more respect than he deserved for starting hand selection.I am getting away from the tourneys and am putting together some non nervous money to start playing in some ring games come th

One thing that gets to my last nerve fast is players not respecting other players. I have gotten in heated arguments with players about not sliding to make getting to a seat easier for a player who is physically handicapped. But last night what hits my last nerve quickest occured. I got a call from a friend to come play in a bar poker league a couple blocks from my house, i hate going to those because i come home smelling like smoke and have to deal with players that think an out is a baseball term. Anyway, the league owner was playing in the tournament and through other tables being broken do

In a tournament I was in I was the BB, the blinds were 50-100, within the first fifteen minutes of it starting. I look down and see AA. First person to act raises 200, person two to her left calls, I raise 200, she raises 200 other person calls, I raise 400 they both call. flop comes 566. I take a secondto read my opponents and Some some uncomfortableness in the person to my left and saw the other person going back and forth looking at me and looking away.Conditional probability comes to mind as I ponder what is the possibility that someone has pocket fives or sixes. Or what would the possibi

I really enjoyed this article. I am one of those math type people. I have a pretty good grasp on the odds and stuff like that. But it is articles like this that let me know what I have been thinking, that I need to work on reading people more. Thinking about why they are doing what they are doing in a hand. Something just occured to me. If we were playing against machines, ya, working the odds would lead to better play, but we are playing against other people and people do stupid stuff some times. lol.

Lmao. In the group of friends I play in tournaments with we call players that stay in no matter what, a "donkey". Like someone that goes up against other players that are representing pocket kings AND aces AND the donkey stays in for triple the blinds then double that from another raise - so calling a total of 9 times the blind preflop with a Q6 off only to flop a set.

lmao,Daniel Negreanu is to poker what Denny Terrio was to disco. Plus he is Canadian!OK that is a joke son. It's funny to me.How many of us can name 1/4 of the people involved in the 2005 heads up shoot out?I have checked many differant "named" poker players sites and not a single one of them is in as much touch with their fans as DN in my opinion. The man proboly doesn't have to play a single hand to be comfortable money wise for the rest of his life. How of us are in that position or were in that position at his age?Anyway, I want to be tolerant of others opinion and say f%^k y@u for hating o

I use a small deck of card, like 1/3 normal size.I got them from Mangleson's a local craft store. They are also great for running hands when I get some time.

Never been there, haven't even thought about it.But I would say head away from the strip and drive around and see where you end up. lol. My thoughts are that anything near the strip or anything touristy are going to be tourist centrist. But things out in native Vegas are going to be more normal city.

I thought the irony was delicious; DN working on his laptop while these other "hardest working" players in poker were playing poker.DN was reaching out to his fans while these other guys were spinning their wheels. More respect for DN. must be growing up on Canadia water or something.lol. sorry. I watch TUF, the UFC show and it is a running joke to say Canadia. Don't worry, I typed that last sentance slow so that it could be understood.About Hell-mouth, he whores himself out so of course more people are going to know who he is. But being well known in certain instances doesn't mean you are the

More recently I have had a mantra of "Patience, Discipline, Position." I have made tough laydowns and stuck other things through. I have been finished in the top 10% of fields of 2000 more and more frequently. The best I have done is in 30th in a field of 5000, on UltimateBet. That was the first time I encountered blinds of that level. 20,000/40,000/4,000 ante then 30,000/60,000/6,000 ante the 40,000/80,000/8,000 ante. That is a differant game entirely. I mean everyone started the tourney with 1500 in chips and the ante was 4 times what you started with. I was trying to win one pot every othe

I have read most of Caro's book. But I find it very tough to read the table quickly and be able to figure out what I have and if I should triple the blinds or limp in, how I did on the flop versus how others did on the flop. But I have found that the non acting tells happen very very quickly, just after they look at their hole cards for the first time or see the flop. There is a split second where acting is very unlikely. The more I learn about poker, I come to realize how little I know. Plus I seem to have the luck/table presence that it seems I always get called down by someone no matter what

well reading people is a part of strategy. i am not sure but i heard that if a person's eyes go up and to the right after they look at their hole cards that it is a sign of a strong hand. (or am i wrong?)anyway, it occured to me that after watching a particular player's go up and to the right I chucked a moderate hand and watched the hand play out and that player flipped over an A6 off. Then it occured to me that what you consider a strong hand and what the other player consider a strong hand are differant.can someone explain to me which way a players eyes move show what that player thinks of

don't forget game theory.read the board and try to figure what can beat you even if you hit. how high is your top card if you do hit a flush? What are the possabilities that others in the hand are also on the same flush draw with a higher kicker?try to put your opponent on particular hole cards. watch them for a second. see how they are handling themselves. if they are guarding their cards. if they are acting out of sorts as to how they have been.odds and outs are good but sometimes others will call you down and suck out on you. but if you can get a read on someone and place a bet or raise o
