ok so i've been a winning player for a very long time, and have had my share of ups and downs, but over the last month, i have been going through the worst downswing ever! i dont know wtf is going on, i mean i have heard of bad runs, but this is by far the worst i've ever seen. any advice?

i have been playing poker seriously for only two years now, and up until about 4 months ago i only played hold em, in all it's variations. up to that point i was consistently winning, but with NL being my favorite game, i still had the crazy variance that NL players get. so one weekend i decided to learn Omaha and Stud, i caught on very quickly to Stud Hi and Omaha HI and Hi/LO. i LOVE playing omaha now, 75% of the players online seem like they play every single hand, and that is the worst thing you can do in Omaha, well needless to say i have had huge success with omaha. if you dont call with top set, you are losing boatloads of money, very rarely should you be laying down top set. on the flop if you fold top set you better be damn sure someone FLOPPED a straight or a flush, no if's and's or buts. and even if they did you are still 3-1 to hit your boat, which is not bad odds.

i was wondering what common knowledge says about your bankroll and the tourney's you play. i know for cash games your bankroll should be 300bb but what about tourney's, what should my bankroll be if i want to play 100buy in tourney's? anyone know?

it is discouraging when playing at these tables sometime. what i try to do when i am playing at a table where 5-7 people see the flop even with an early position raise, is bet only when i have a bigger edge and try to stay out of the more marginal situations, obviously this is a pretty basic strategy, but you would be surprised at how many people deviate from it. obviously you cant do much when your aces get cracked, but that is but one hand, when playing those tables, pay more attention to your other hands that play well against large fields, and exploit them when you can, if you have equit

i was just wondering how many hands you guys play? i see people talking about 300 a week? wow! i think i play more than that in an hour. i think the great thing about playing online is that you can multi table, even in NL i think this still is a plus in EV.... but for that one guy 15k hands in a year? jeez, that seems like nothing...flame away

i believe it all depends on if it is limit, pl, or nl. i have sat down on nl tables and put in a break even 6 hour session and have at one time sat down for 35 minutes and the max buy in 5 times over. limit is def. different. you should play for longer because the rushes arent the same.
