What do I do against people donking out against me? I mean, even when I have a hand like top pair, it's not a spot I'm necessarily happy with unless he has a history of doing it, and it seems to happen quite often. I mean, obviously you deal with them in different ways depending on the situation, but when I'm at a new table and some guy is just donking into me, how should I see it in a vacuum?

Hmm, you're right, totally same situation.I'm not comfortable cause I'm not sure if its a bad thing to do or not. I'm uncomfortable due to uncertainty, which is why I'm posting it. Pretty sure you're wrong because I always post hands like this to a few friends, I just haven't posted on FCP lately. I am totally uncomfortable playing 3bet pots with TP Jack or Queen Kicker because I have no idea what to do with them. If he bet and I called and he had some random hand, I would wonder if I should have bet the turn instead if it were a hand I could get some value from.So please, answer the question instead of criticizing something that not only doesn't matter, but you're not even right about.

I give him a ton of credit for being a competent player. Hes the only reg that I hate playing against cause I think he belongs at higher stakes than 20NL. Against a fishier/more passive player, I wouldn't be checking trying to induce a bluff.Thanks for the input

Yeah, I definitely call with too many suited connectors preflop and that's something I need to work on, but you think bet/folding the river is better than check calling?

I have started playing less on my super fishy site (can't even use a HUD there, and I feel playing the way I do there to exploit the fish makes me play poor on sites with competent players), and started playing on some European site. Nah, in the games I play people are spewing everywhere and calling down top pair with 2 kicker, this guy was just a nit :PAnyways, thanks for the input. Calling with A9o was way out of character for me. I even play tighter than I would normally on this site because they love to pay you off when you hit here./shameAnyways, I already knew my call was poor which was why I mentioned it in the original post, but thanks for confirming that getting it in was bad.

Yeah, I'm not sure why I would call preflop with A9o anyways. I don't think I was defending in the BB, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't suited. I usually have a fairly tight preflop range since I've tightened it up a lot, so it was very very unusual for me to be calling there anyways.
