  1. 50/50 on this one. Depends on your reads of the DEF guy - does he play 54 or similar holdings from UTG (trip 4's) or would he slow play a flush until the turn (fairly likely). Or, conversely, would he make the very smart move of raising a weak ace on the river now that he knows he gets kicker protection if yours is not higher than a jack? If he did the latter, and got you to fold what would've been a split, then solid move! I may just make a crying call here. Also - I think a raise on the turn may have helped you figure out his hand better. If it's three bet, you could fold the river un
  2. Played solidly, Aseem. Check-raised on the flop when you had the most equity, bet on the turn when shown no signs of strength. River check is a 50/50 for me - could a weak Q be calling all along ? A strong Q may even have been, scared by your check raise on the flop, and would probably call this. I doubt that you will get check raised most times - most good players, I find, don't employ the check raise on the river when they catch a draw. They'll just bet out and force you to call. But anyway, well played.-Y
  3. HAHA - that's exactly what my opponent had - 88. Not really defending my play, but he was quite aggressive on every pot, and I felt that he would've capped the flop with an ace. Anyway, just wanted to confirm here that I "got lucky" with the wrong play against a bad player.
  4. Yay, another guessing game for all of you rounders out there.$5 on Full Tilt for anyone who guesses my hand exactly and my opponent's hand (Mp3) reasonably close. First person with both gets the monster first prize.$1-2 Limit Preflop: Folded around. MP3, to my right, a loose, lucky player, calls. I call in CO. BB folds, Mp3 calls.Turn: A 7 8 10 MP bets, I raise, he calls.Turn: A 7 8 10 7 MP bets, I raise, he calls.Edit: it may help to take account that I am aggressive (perhaps overaggressive) in my limit play, and th
  5. .5/1 Limit HE on FTPDealt 10 10 on button.UTG and UTG+1 limp, folded around, I raise, they call. Flop: A A 5 .UTG bets, UTG+1 raises, I re-raise, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls.Turn: A A 5 5 .UTG bets, UTG+1 folds, I call.River: A A 5 5 .J UTG bets, I call.
  6. yeah fold and wait 200 more hands for a better situation.notHah, that was what I was thinking. Pot had about $13 - his bet was for $7, I had about $30 left. So what line should I take - raise max again and ram all in, or call with second nuts and hope he catches a flush/straight so I can raise all in again?
  7. I've been having problems with these situations, especially in PL Omaha. This is an O8 hand from .25/.5 PLI'm dealt Q 9 A 2 on the button. Two limpers, I limp also, SB completes, BB checks. Flop: Q 9 9 Checked around to me. I bet the pot. BB raises pot max again. All fold to me. Is it an easy fold for anyone here? I thought he had J 10 or overplayed A 9. Just calling seems bad since I'm sure he'll push again, and folding appears to be my only option - if I believe him.
  8. See, and here I was thinking this one would take a while. Well done. Of course I would have played it exactly the same with Pocket A's... but, when I said at the beginning of my post that I just wish he had had more money, I figured that maybe someone might recognize that I had the absolute, undisputed, pure nutz! When I bet out on the river, I think at that point he called figuring we'd split the pot, both having Aces and 10's, with the Q on the board as the kicker.... boy was he incorrecto.Good call!!BeanGW shows [ Tc, Ts ] four of a kind, tens.fisherman264 doesn't show [ Ah, 4h ] two pair
  9. Early in MTT, blinds 30/60, I'm shortstacked with 810 chips.A 6 on BBCO limps, SB completes, I check. Flop: 4 9 6 SB checks, I bet 100 to see where I am. CO folds, SB calls.Turn: 4 9 6 A SB checks to me. I ...?Pot: 380. My stack remaining: 650.Check through and see a bet on the river, with a draw heavy board?Make a small bet (around 100), and fold to a big raise?Make a pot sized bet (around 300), and risk getting pushed all in and having to call? I chose door number 3 when I played this.
  10. What an ugly play of AA - nothing you could've done Tim, I think. I've written a few times about how a lot of the 1-2 players on FTP will slow play their premium pairs preflop and on the flop, usually waiting until the turn to raise. It's bizarre how many of them do this, especially just calling a raise with AA/KK instead of reraising preflop. It makes it harder to read them on boards, but when you draw out on them and they keep raising there is nothing better :)In this case, Savage's play was plain bad. He lost at least 2 SBs preflop, and 2-4 BB on the turn/river. I see no reason why he
  11. 10 10 most likely - you called the flop raise to look weak, and then bet out the turn to confuse/push off any draws out there. The all in at the end is easy.
  12. .05/.1 PL O/8 on FTPPassive blah blah blah game - make a somewhat loose limp on the button, with four other callers, with 8 6 2 4 .Flop is 7 9 3 UTG+1 makes a pot bet of $1.40, Mp1 calls, I decide to call with a couple of weird draws. BB calls. UTG+1 is real bad, so I know he'll go all in on the come or with just two pair even if I make a hand.Turn is 7 9 3 5 UTG+1 pushes all in, on what I think is a badly played set (or A2 clubs?) looking to buy the whole pot. I have about $5 left, and he's got me covered. Should I call with the current nuts, weak flush draw, and gutshot straig
  13. You actually want the overcalls here on the cheap street. Not a huge pot and you want as much action as possible if you hit.SSHE says the opposite - i.e. I probably should have capped the flop to clean out my ace outs. I put BB on an overpair with his three-bet, and I might've folded CO with a cap on the flop, since I had a fairly tight table image and fast played a set right before this hand.CO was a tight player (most players in 1-2 on FTP are tight, for some reason). He limped with A 10, and eventually won this pot. BB had KK. I'm not sure if CO wouldve called 2 more if the flop was capp
  14. Wondering, again, if I'm being too aggressive, here with a good draw.A 9 on UTG+1 .I call, MP1 calls, CO calls, BB raises.Flop: 7 2 10 BB bets, I raise, Mp folds, CO calls, BB three-bets it, I call, CO calls.Turn: 7 2 10 A BB bets, I raise, CO calls two cold, BB calls.River: 7 2 10 A 6 I bet, both call.
  15. I've found that I'm having a lot of problems with 10-10, J-J, or QQ against tight passive players in low limit games when I'm too aggressive in my play. A lot of them just call two cold with KK or AA without reraising me preflop, giving me no visibility on flops. Then, when there are no overcards or one over card on flops, I often raise or three bet against another aggressive player, and they just call down my bets on the turn and river. Perhaps I should be thanking them for not costing me more in these hands, but I'm wondering if there is ANY way of detecting strength when these guys bet
  16. Expensive draw with two other players in - are pot odds/implied odds still correct?1-2 Limit10 9 in UTG. Call, Mp1 calls, Mp2 raises, BB and all three call.Flop: K J 8 I check, Mp1 bets, Mp2 raises, BB folds, I call, Mp1 threebets and Mp2 caps ... I call.Turn: K J 8 2 Mp1 and Mp2 cap betting again, I call 4 BB with OESD plus flush draw.River: K J 8 2 8 I miss and fold.Against most likely a set and two pair, was calling down with a draw like this correct on flop and turn?
  17. In regards to hand two, I find that a lot of people on low limits wait with a small pair on a raised pot until the turn to raise, thinking that I have just two overs. They do this because a hand like A 9 on that flop has the most equity on the turn against two overs. For the results for you all to mull over (and the reason why I said slow play):Hand 1: A A He just called two preflop from my raise, and then called the capped pot. I never saw it coming. He did cap the flop, I believe, which was correct...Hand 2: K K Again, he just called two preflop without three-betting it. I suppose i
  18. I think it was AA - he slowplays it preflop when Mike doubles the blind, then tries to talk Mike off the pot when he realizes that Mike might've caught something. He acts like it was 10 10, second nuts on that board, but he probably doesn't have it. The key tell for pocket rockets is that he says "that ace could not have helped you" when the river ace is shown - he's caught his set, while the ace could at best make 2 pair for Mike.I don't think KGB played the hand that badly, except he probably should've bet less on the river or checked it through. The only hand that would call is the one h
  19. Decided to play some lower limits after some struggles this afternoon - this is a hand from $.5/$1 on FTP.I just want to know if I got the very best possible on this monster! It was a gold mine hand, and I wanted to tap it for the max.Dealt a BB special of A K UTG calls, UTG+1 raises, MP1 calls, Button calls, SB calls, I three-bet from the BB, everyone calls! 18 SB so far. Flop: 8 6 9 I check. It's checked around to the Button, who bets. SB calls, I decide just to call and hope for overcalls, and pop it on the turn. UTG raises, 2 folds, Button and SB call. I now three-bet; UTG caps a
  20. Why bet the turn on Hand 1 when an over card has fallen that most likely pairs one of the two players, leaving me open to a raise, while not three-betting the turn on Hand 2 when I still have an overpair and the turn card looks fairly useless?
  21. Sometimes I wonder why I play the 1-2 limit at FTP, when it is clearly the tightest game I know of.Here's two hands with QQ - how do you I think I played them? I was totally aggressive with both. In both hands, a monster was slowplayed by my opponents. Then I went on tilt for one hand and got revenge.Hand 1:Q Q in UTG.I raise, MP1 calls two, BB (who raises like a moron) three-bets, I cap, MP1 and BB call. Flop: 2 6 10 BB bets, I raise, Mp1 three-bets, BB calls, I cap it with an overpair and a decent flush draw. Mp1 and BB call.Turn: 2 6 10 A:spade: I check, thinking that one of
  22. Full Tilt Poker has by far the best interface and support of any of the sites I've tried, IMO. It also has some of the tightest 1/2 limit games on the net, but if you move up to 3-6/5-10 or down to .25/.5 the players are fairly loose/aggressive. If you're a winning player and can handle the competition (and want to improve your game) play on FTP, especially their NL, which almost always has great players. If you can't handle it, join anyway, the site needs some more fish! One of the cooler games that FTP has is Razz, which is quite a gambler's game and often has a lot of real life pros play
  23. I'd bet out 300 or so, and hopefully push him off if he has AJ or 55 or something of that nature. Why give him the chance to pot commit himself when you don't have nearly a made hand yet? He might feel that he has to go all in with or A 9 or something, because you check raised him, and you probably still just have 30% to win. After all, you don't actually want to go all in on this flop, do you?
  24. I always find it hard to play AK when I hit the ace but a few other Broadway cards are shown. For example: 1-2 on FTP:A K in SB1 limper, CO raises, I decide to just call out of position, BB calls.Flop: A 10 Q I bet, BB raises, two folds, I call.Turn: A 10 Q 7 Check, bet, call.River: A 10 Q 7 3 .Check, check.BB turns over A Q Should I bother three-betting and possibly getting capped on flops with 3 broadway showing, or was this correct? I am mentioning mostly my flop play; on the turn and river I think I played it OK. Should I have three-bet preflop (almost guaranteed that
  25. 2-4 HE on FTPDealt K K in MP3. "Bill Fillmaff with a wired pair of cowboys!"UTG calls, MP1 (loose and wild, and ATM) raises, I three bet. UTG and Mp1 call.Flop: K 8 4 UTG bets, Mp1 calls, I decide to value call my nuts (with intention of raising next round). Turn: K 8 4 10 UTG bets, Mp1 raises (?!), I'm thinking he has A 10 or maybe 10 10. Now what?1) I three bet. Most likely UTG folds, if Mp1 doesnt have 10 10 he just calls. On the river, he will check call at best. This is a total of 9 BB after the turn.2) I smooth call his raise, and go for the pop on the river. If UTG calls
