USA Hockey moved checking from PeeWee to Bantam last year...so the same, age went from 11 to 13 for checking to start. Also, there is a league somewhere in Canada that's no checking through midget (16-18 year olds). I was reffing a tourney game 2-3 years ago. First shift there's a clean-as-could-be check and the coach is yelling at me. There was a whistle soon after and he calls me over and says "You know this is a no check level, right?". I had never heard of such a thing for midget. It was nice of the scheduler and/or tourney director to not inform us of this.

In our league, head contact is when the ref calls "I didn't see it, sorry...".

I'm so far behind I skimmed a lot.... My only comment was about the facewashing. In the NCAA (and therefore ACHA which is the club level of college hockey that I ref), a facewash is now a game misconduct. It's dumb to do it anyway because full cages or shields are required. The NCAA is doing a whole lot to take any type of head contact out of their game.

I might be in Vegas in late Sept for a wedding. Not sure if it'll happen but it's been talked about. I'm still holding strong! Yep, still slow as fack.

Up and back tomorrow. We both work Monday morning. I'm not sure if I told this story or not. For my second date with Marlo, I had her over to my apartment for dinner. I saw bet baby in the corner and said "There's something I have to tell you......(dramatic pause)......I have a 3 year old Canadian child." She looked at me like "WTF?" and I went and got him from the corner. She later told me she was thinking of running for the door.

As a punishment for something...I have a 9:30am meeting every Wednesday morning from last Oct until mid-late this July. It's 3h15mins away. This week I left at 6:05, got there at 9:20, had mtgs from 9:30-11:00, back in the car at 11:30, and home by 3:30 with a lunch stop. Yea, great use of my time. Dumb.Anyway...dmb this Sunday in Ohio. WOO!
