  1. I will admit that my skills at reading are not as high as most world class players. (They should thank their lucky stars for that.) God I love Sklansky.
  2. I guess he was lucky she wasn't playing him heads up for those 9 WSOP events he won over the years too right? Guess it helps that she hasn't even made 9 final tables in wsop events.
  3. That's brilliant. You are a true student of the game.
  4. "We're back -- I think everyone had forgotten about us." A fan pointed out that they were two of the best known poker players in the game. "I don't mean the public," said Phil. "I'm referring to the poker world." YEAHHH!!!!!!!
  5. This has got to be great for Phil. Beats his single-white-female-stalker Paul Phillips, and then exacts a little revenge on the magician. Guess his "weak-tight" play that some pros insist he has now is working out ok. Man, I hope he rocks a couple of bracelets in the WSOP this year.On a sidenote this has got to be a pretty good matchup for the final table for NBC.
  6. Ivey the bet int he world HAHAHHAHAHAAIt was in quotation marks, as it was someone else's opinion, not mine. ALthough to be fair, a lot of pros think he's the best player in poker right now, whatever that means. I'd never bet against Sklansky though.
  7. Go Sklansky, it's your birthday. Mr. Theory.
  8. Remembered something funny at work last night thinking of the Sklansky vs Ivey debate we were having. I remember that for some reason Sklansky once wrote an article that was an in depth look on stealing Phil Ivey's big blind if you were the small blind. Not any pro's blind, but Ivey's in particular, and the math behind it. This makes me wonder if Sklansky is such a card nerd (in a good way) that he just sits around thinking on how he would beat specific players heads up. Made me chuckle.
  9. Ok, he beats Ivey, the "best poker player in the world". If he beats Chan next will he finally get some respect around here?
  10. Shit. I just finally set up the bet with this guy and nowwwww yopu tell us. I guess bet's off Suited, you just saved yourself $5. Oh well, I'm just happy to know Sklansky did win. :-)
  11. What's funny is I'm sure Paul will be talking about how bad he is at headsup matches and nl headsup variance and all sorts of things when he loses. Paul has an unhealthy obsession with Hellmuth and I wouldn't be suprised if he cut off Hellmuth's skin and wore it like his own, all the while babbling "I hate me, I hate me"
  12. That's the problem- no he's not. Sklansky doesn't execute very well at all because one of the keys to applying theory is having a feel for what your opponent has. That's a major weakness of his and one of Ivey's biggest strength Just one? Chau Giang' date=' Eli Elezra' date=' Ming Ly' date=' Lee Salem, Johnny Chan... shall I continue? [/quote''']OWNED!!! lol.Name a mid limit grinder who hasn't read his books? In fairness I don't think Sklansky's known for his tournament expertise and wouldn't be suprised if a lot of tourney specialists hadn't read his books.
  13. When you bust him, please please please, say "Hey ANtonio, how bout this wave?" and start waving good bye at him and saying "Bye bye, bye bye".
  14. Maybe he'll get to see the flop more against Howard. I've only seen Esfer play once, but man he was pushin' and pushin' preflop
  15. I don't know who your going to get to take a bet like this. Anybody headsup at 2:1 money is not fair. You take somebody that knows nothing about poker against a professional and I still wouldn't take the pro at those odds. If you measured it over several matches long term, then perhaps I'd take the pro at those odds, but not for a single matchThat's why I have no problem with the wager. With people stating Ivey's 2 to 1 and some people here saying even more than that, I thought I'd see how sure some people were with those odds.
  16. Ok, 2 to 1, I pick Sklansky. 10 bucks in my pstars account if sklansky wins, ill put 5 in yours if ivey wins. just one taker plz, and hurry before any results are posted.
  17. I would not go that far. While I think Ivey can win, I would not be surprised to see Sklansky pull it off. The guy is an absolutely great card player and HIGHLY underestimated as a player. I you were to ask me who was better out of Ivey and Sklansky, well I would say they are probably of the same ability, however if you were to ask which "style" is more suitable to HU, then I have to give it to Ivey. L* I don't agree that they are at the same ability level. Sklansky is good in theory, and writing about it. But what has he done to say he's at the same level as Ivey? I forgot what I was go
  18. Now that is a bold bet. The match has been going on for 50 minutes. For all you know Ivey has a 10-1 chip lead.At the start of the match this is an easy bet.Holy shit, they're playing right now? Like as we speak? This debate should be settled pretty fast then. Who do you think will have results tonight?
  19. No doubt in my mind whatsoever. Also, if anyone has a Pokerstars account and believes Ivey is really a 2 to 1 favorite, I'd be willing to put up ten bucks (you'd owe me 20 at 2 to 1) on Mr. Theory.
  20. I'm going with Mr. Theory of Poker Sklansky. The ma's a cardplaying genius and he has time to come up with a specific plan for his opponet. And at 2-1 odds I'll put up 10 bucks (you'll owe me 20 at 2 to 1) to anyone with a pokerstars account.
  21. Not if I go to 2+2 and warn Mr. Sklansky of your buddy's plan! Haha, you let the strategy out of the bag! Seriously though, have you seen Sklansky play a lot? I had heard he plays higher limits, but not big game limits, is it possible you guys are underestimating him?
  22. Bad idea. Us armchair quarterbacks would be criticising the plays trying to compare it to the tourneys we see on tv, when a cash game is a different beast altogether.
  23. When is the actual match? I assume it will be taped and aired later. The great thing in this dream match debate is that eventually they will play and there will be a winner, and at 2-1 I'll get to say IN YOUR FACE!! two times. :-)
  24. Sklansky might not play in the buddy buddy high stakes game with your friends, but the guy's a poker genius, and Doyle didn't really give him problems in their headsup play. I don't think Mr. Knows all the outs and probabilities is going to be phased by the crazy man stare and some blind raising. Also, Danny you're playing Jerry Buss. Might wanna think about the most mismatched heads up thing again.(for the record Im not a Negreanu basher, I just think he's way off base on this match, and if I had the money I'd put it on Sklansky)
