  1. I think you're ahead here most of the time. Maybe he has A-8, and since the 6 was another undercard to his top pair, he bet again. What could he really call a preflop raise with that contained a 4, especially out of position? Maybe A-4?? Anyways, I would have went over the top on the flop and let him hang himself if he gets married to top pair or an over pair. Ship it!!!
  2. I'm not saying that re-raising all-in was the right play to make with KK...I was just telling him how he could have won this particular hand. ...I guess I could have re-assured him that plays like his are profitable in the long run.
  3. Exactly. I can't see us eliminating the 4-5 possibility at all. "Meh, I'll call 50 with my straight draw". And what about A-10o or A-9o?? Those aren't standard raising hands for a lot of people from the SB, so he could have one of those hands. We all know how crazy so many players get for their pair of aces.
  4. One simple thing would have turned this loss into a win. -After Mr xxl calls the 200, and Acesblack raises all-in, you should move all-in right behind to isolate Acesblack. By raising all-in, you are making Mr xxl call 4145 into a pot of about 6800 (about 1.6 to 1), instead of 1965 into a pot of about 4500 (about 2.3 to 1). Clearly raising gives him crappier odds to call. Also, if he sees you go over the top of Acesblack's all-in, he will probably fold the crappy K-10.
  5. and by the way sick boy...don't put so much value into cards being suited. Don't get me wrong, it is important and it increases your draw potential in hands you should play...but being suited doesn't increase the value of crap like 9-3 very much at all. One of the most common mistakes new players make is to play any bloody hand because "they were suited!!" Download the tool from this site www.pokerstove.com-You can run simple simulations and see which hands are favourites over others. It's nifty. Hope this helps.
  6. Without actually calculating the specific odds of getting a hand better than 9-3 next time...I couldn't say for sure. Think of it like this: Q-7 is the exact middle when it comes to hand strength. So a 9-3 is well below that, meaning that a random hand will be better than 9-3 way more than 50% of the time. To answer your question, IMO the 9-3 should either push or fold. But since there is almost no chance in hell he is winning this tournement, his goal should be to move up in the money. And since the BB is so short (and will almost certainly be all in this hand), I would fold the button and le
  7. I think he wanted to CR the turn but couldn't since you checked behind...and wanted to make up for it on the river. He probably thought you would never bet out with a 7 on the flop, so maybe he caught his A and figured he was good....and I probably call on the river, saving the rest of my stack just in case he has a better 7 or god forbid, the 45 (I think 9-10 is not likely since you almost potted the flop and he still called, OOP).
  8. At these levels I find that lots of players will flat call a raise pre-flop with a big pair...I'm guessing to either "not lose customers", or to make sure the flop is safe. Say he had KK...check raising the flop looks stronger than simply betting out don't you think? He probably wanted the pot right there. And check raising draws is also a common way to get a free river card. Anyways, this argument sucks since the result will be the same 99% of the time...everyone being all-in.
  9. I don't like checking the turn because it reveals the fact that you were only CBing the flop, and tells him that his flop call scared you...Also, check-calling the turn gives you no information about his hand, since the villain will be betting 90% of the time when you check to him on this turn.
  10. Alright. To answer you question...yes you probably can fold this river. But there is one problem that would have prevented this decision from even arising. 1. Raise preflop. Limping is terrible, since it lets in hands like K7s, which kills you here. I do think there is some value in betting the river. At these levels, lots of players will call this bet with a 4, or even a flush.
  11. It matters not my friend. Why?BECAUSE IT'S ALL GOING TO GET IN ANYWAYS. You know you aren't folding. He's not folding a J if he has one, no matter the kicker. 9 times out of 10 he's drawing to 4 outs for the higher boat or quads. If he catches his 10 to 1 shot, good for him. At the same time...his play is also consistent with an over pair or maybe an OESD, in which case you don't want him folding. So maybe lean towards waiting for the turn. Because you are a winner here most of the time.
  12. Instashove is right...a button raise with 3 limpers puts him on a wide range. AQo is almost always a favourite here, IMO.
  13. I throw my queens away so fast...and then go get a rum & coke. Put it this way...At least one of them has you beat. All you can hope for if you call is him having A-10...in which case you would be dodging another 10 or an A...and you are probably dodging any club as well. I'm also guessing a Q is no good to you, since that means a J has a straight...and do you really want to re-draw for most of your chips? Pick a better spot. Sick hand.
  14. I think this hand basically plays itself (after the button calls anyways)Player 1 has almost half his stack in the BB...and he is pot committed. He has to call pretty much anything. Player 3 calling basically says he is committed to the pot as well. Player 1 made the right move for sure. Player 3 is retarded. 9-3 is well below average, which means there is statistically a better chance to be dealt a better hand next round in the BB. AND...if he folds the button (for free), there is a pretty good chance the SB will be putting Player 1 all-in anyways...which means he moves up a level if the SB w
  15. From the 3-6 I've played at my local casinos, it's very similar to your example. Obviously the most sound strategy is to bet aggressively on your premium holdings (when they hit). If they don't hit, let them go. Simple as that. With so many players preflop, obviously everyone can't have a good hand. So you have to punish them for their loose calls/mistakes. But 3-betting 3rd pair on that board will only lose you money...especially since you didn't even pick up your flush draw, and MP3 had already raised the flop. But trust me, eventually it will even out if you are playing well. ...you just ha
  16. I agree. Sort of. However...if he DID have the Q9, it's very possible he was going for overcalls on the turn, since there were still 2 players to act behind him. Just calling gained him 2 bets instead of the 1 bet he would gain (from you calling the turn) if he had raised. And it's the same thing on the river. If he had the nuts, why would he raise and lose the 2 bets from MP2 and MP3? But lets remember that most of these micro limit players don't really think...so I'm guessing he hit his 2 pair on the river
