  1. I'll do it for $50, even odds, double digit inflation at any time in the next 16 months (before the end of October 2010) as measured by the official RPI. I can transfer money on basically any site but Stars/Tilt would be easiest. I might not be posting regulary on FCP a year from now, but my AIM and e-mail will be the same so if you see the RPI at 10+ and I haven't messaged you hit me up on either and i'll send it over. The time includes October so if it's reported in November for the month of October (I imagine there's a lag in reporting in the USA as there is over here) that's allowed.Deal?
  2. If you're willing, I will wager $50 that this doesn't happen. We can go RPI or CPI, you can set the bar at 30% reduction in spending. As in, if within 12 months of this date federal spending hasn't decreased by 30%, and inflation is in double digits, you win. I'm not sure what measure of spending you would want to use, but I suspect that's irrelevant anyway as we both know it's not going to happen.
  3. That's missing his point entirely. He isn't saying that fox is racist at all, he hasn't said ANYTHING about the quality of fox news or it's bias against different races. He's made a statement that was totally devoid of any biases or opinion, based of what he believes to be the reality of the situation.I'm guessing he's totally correct, given that most demographic analysis of conservative voters points to them being, among other things, white.
  4. 1. Fair comment. 2. You said that every single economist thought that the Stimulus package was a terrible idea. Even if this is an exaggeration, it's clearly wrong. You said to Cwik that the laws Obama was proposing if passed would be without doubt the worse thing for the economy ever. I'm also assuming this is an exaggeration as it wasn't in the course of a series discussion, and you didn't specify what legislation you were talking about. But again I think it's clearly wrong (unless you were talking about some proposed measure that i am not aware of, in which case I don't think it'd be big e
  5. If it's all the same bullshit, why are so many Bush loving Republicans complaining? Either they didn't like Bush or they think something (drastic) has changed. You can't have it both ways.
  6. I don't particularly care about your defining of statesman and politician, but it's pretty obvious that you just came up with that so you could laud Regan and bash Obama. Obama isn't doing what he's doing (for the most part) because of poll numbers. He's doing what he's doing because he believes it's the right thing to do. You can't criticise him for being and idiot/ignorant/misguided/socialist then criticise him for being a malevolent sinister careerist politician who knows he's destroying the economy but chooses to do so because of poll numbers. Obviously, it's politics and all politicians a
  7. I've always thought referring to refundable tax credits as tax cuts was pretty silly, and from the comments on the article the AMT thing seems to not be that impressive either. I just find it fun to post stuff like this in FCP and see what retarded replies I can get from AKoff and Sal Paradise.
  8. “We will not get this economy back on track, recovery will be not strong and sustained, unless we convince the American people that we are going to have the will to bring these deficits down once recovery is firmly established,” he said.Er, no?The American people believing that Congress/Obama will decrease the deficit has barely anything at all to do with an economic recovery. If anything, believing that they are serious about deficit reduction would make the situation worse as the American people start believing that their taxes will be raised in future and that welfare programs will be rolle
  9. How can you prove that they didn't at least skin read it?
  10. Legislation that gets passed through any representative chamber can be absolutely huge and if the British system is anything to go by the majority of congressman don't fully read the majority of legislation they vote on anyway.
  11. The amount of ignorance in this thread is astonishing even by FCP politic forum standards.
  12. This clip is just too hilarious not to, and i'm surprised there hasn't been a thread on it already.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXpyQ6POqiwIf someone actually watched the show could they tell me that he actually said something after the clip ends which makes him sound less like a complete imbecile? It sounds almost too implausible that even someone as moronic as Bill OReilly could think this.

  14. *Warning, the following contains inflammatory statements that may enrage the reader*I think it's time you got over your constitution. It's a 200 year old document that does not have some underlying godly significance in all situations. The writers could not have hoped to imagine the world as it is today, yet it's a cornerstone of the political system and will probably continue to be so in the future. It's like the bible.
  15. I knew you were a ****ing moron, but I didn't know you were this god damn brain dead.
  16. In a common law system, this is what happens, it's what makes the supreme court such an important institution. I don't really get how you can criticise her for saying that, maybe it's not the most intelligent thing to say, but it's the truth, judges MAKE law. Maybe you were implying something else or whatever, but stating that judges make law isn't exactly a revolution.
  17. yeah i know, i was just trying to make a point that saying stuff about race in that context in a public setting is pretty silly
  18. 'maybe this applies to poker games'There's like an incident every week of some jackass police force busting a home game like it's a drug cartel!
  19. Three of the biggest costs to the British health service are Cancer, alcohol related incidents and obesity. You would think the logical argument would be that the government would stop people drinking/smoking/eating, but that's not what happens at all. Heck we even have a lower drinking/smoking age than you do. I think arrogance is pretty much a given for anyone to achieve the position of president, you just don't get there by thinking other people are more right than you are.
  20. I think it's worrying not because she's 'racist', but because she's dumb enough to say so to the media.I don't think it's a particularly racist comment or implies that she is, I think its on the level as saying 'black guys play basketball' or 'white men can't jump' in that in her context she was playing on a common stereotype of different races. I don't consider that racist because I don't think it should be offensive to point out that basketball/athletics is dominated by black guys because it's just a fact. However, it's so ****ing stupid to say and makes absolutely no sense. If she was inten
  21. Well it actually said I was on a par with Stalin, but the display pic was Pelosi. Which is slightly better I guess.
