  1. 1. well, that's a social problem, not a governemental...2. but it is in many ways. i just read an article about it (in german only unfortunately). the article was dicussing how Bush's turning to religion heavyly influenced his political decisions (btw: he himself stated once that he is led by god's instructions. scary, imo). and they wrote about palin's home church and their belief, that every occurrence is part of god's plan. and they pointed out that palin might be thinking that her nomination and everything could be part of this plan. of course, just theory, but as her strong belief and the
  2. but i think, this is something that has changed a little bit during this campaign. obv i have no statistical evidence, but i think this campaign made more people political aware in the us than any other campaign before.
  3. if you wanted to say "more godless" = secular, you're right. churches still exist over here, you know...
  4. this. period. and not because of the last sentence. it's true, though, imo.
  5. it was very interesting for me to see, what an effect this election campaign had and how the discussion developed. your way of discussing the cadidates, even discussing the private lifes (almost unimaginable in germany. it's all about the issues. we would never dig that deep into personal life of our cadidates than you do. hell, we have gays in parliament and high positions. i guess, that would almost cause a civil war in america. just kidding ) and the way the political discussion turned into this debate on principles (sometimes just based on stubbornness) was very interesting to me. things
  6. i actually find buddhism very interesting *throws a bone in*
  7. if you are really serious, please tell me why you're different than the average dictatoram i the only one who has 1984 in my mind everytime i look in this thread?
  8. wow. i would have said it more... politely, but hey, neretva and i finally agree on something^^and what if we're in reallity just pawns in a game of higher entities? God vs. Q in a game of Universe Chess...
  9. yup. 'cause the staffs and employees of all the agencies changed 100% when the governement changed. and, of course, all the information got lost. and they just weren't able to recover them in these few months. /ironynitpicking ftw!^^
  10. Wow. Now I got it! You know everything what will happen, what should and should not be done, what people are thinking and are like and what's good for the people, the country and the world! You're God!But, my Lord, why aren't you just changing everything?man, this is getting f*cking stupid. i really try to respect everyones opinion, even if i don't like it. but we don't need this arrogant, insulting stuff.
  11. you would never get to know it. these guys aren't called spys for nothing...
  12. are you serious? are your really thinking that everyone who works in governement or governement institutions is uncorrupt, honest, trustable and responsible? come on...and some corrupt federal agent selling information and files would be just the small problem...what if the governement starts to use the information for its own interest? it could start with subtle influencing people to vote in a specific way. following a subtle control of information, leading to influence in the media... leading to control of the media... do i have to continue.and before you would ever realize it, we have anoth
  13. come on. you know how that can work. special agent joe public works in the nsa, where all this phone calls are being tapped. maybe he's just selling your phone number to some companies. maybe he listens to the newest trade talk between manhattan moguls and is able to use this information for his benefit at the stock market. or maybe he's selling other information to criminal organisations...conspiracy theories ftw!
  14. not a tax rebate. but we don't have to pay it, if we don't want. the fee for our complete social security system (includes: health, unemployment, retirement) is split equally between employer and employee. that's good for both sides, because the employee doesn't need to pay the full prize and the employer gets tax cuts and other virtues. so the it starts and ends with an employment. unless, we have a private insurance. then we (and the employer) don't have to pay to the state.but of course, private insurances are much more expensive and you need an extra insurance for everything: health, unemp
  15. we have to pay it fully back. and if it's really big, prison up to 10 years is possible.@neretva: it's not like "taking from some and giving to the poor students". everybody pays and everybody has the right to get it if it's needed. and it's not that i just take a gift. i have to pay 50% back when university is over and i have a job.that's the way our social system works: we all pay more or less the same and thereby we all have the right to get health insurance, retirement pay, bafög, unemployment pay (just for 2 years, we still have to work^^) etc.BUT: still everybody has the possibility to t
  16. wat?? lol. okay, an intelligent discussion just came to an end...
  17. well, eventually i'm right now getting something for it: our so-called "bafög", financial support for students. and i don't mind at all^^. it's not much and i still have to work besides, but it's nice anyway.
  18. i don't have the numbers and i'm not searching for them. actually we're in a little trouble, obv, because of the ebvious reasons. my point is, that our system was very successful since the beginning and didn't restrict or drag down anything.
