Well, partly because of the passing thing. But it seemed like the extent of his research was: 1. Looks at career numbers. 2. The end. Although he probably didn't even do that. Voting wasn't public until round 3. I think a lot of times your name is a place holder for votes until a favorite emerges and the group swarms. So you always have multiple votes, but a lot of those don't stick.
