Yeah, I actually kinda felt bad when I listened to myself that I didn't shut them down harder on the pot control comment. I was thinking about the preflop thing halfway through what he was saying and I think I just kinda missed what an awful question it was.Anyway, I think today's graph is a little bit more like what you guys were looking for. It's not quite as exciting as it looks since I'm only getting half on the stake, but it's still pretty swongy:

If you really want updates on how my gambling's going, I've had 2 sessions since the last graph I posted:Session 13.5 hours+404Session 22 hours-35Not all that exciting, is it? Don't worry, if I win or lose 15 BI, I'll be on here to post about it.

Just did a 20 minute interview on the 2+2 pokercast talking about PLO if anyone's interested. It's not up yet, it will be the Dan Harrington episode and it my part is the last 20 minutes of the show.

On the bright side, here's my graph since I started getting staked. (~90% at 2/4 with some 3/6 mixed in)

OMG, I'm a gambling addict. I'm going into therapy this week at some point. I owed my buddy $3,000 going into this week; we started betting, I got even, then I got down $15,500 and we got to the point where I was betting $15,000 on a single hand and if I lost I would have ended up paying him over 30K, but I won the hand and I got even.Still, the betting was ridiculous. I 100% need to talk to a therapist about this shit and get it all squared away; otherwise I'll **** my whole life up. I recognize my problem and I'm definitelt going to work on it.

Looks good, only because a 40/15's not going to be limping aces or kings there. Generally in a 5-way limped pot, you don't want to stack off w/bottom set though.Actually what looked good was the not folding part. I still think repotting the flop is better than a flat/call. Remember, very very few people are capable of raise/folding. Don't give him a chance to get away from AK if a scare card comes on the turn.

I won $1800 today playing 1/2 while waiting to get a hold of my staker. Just wanted to be part of the club.

$2,000 Buy-in Hu Plo Final (best 2/3)
iggymcfly replied to iggymcfly's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
Ding ding ding! The thing is that when I first check, it looks really weak and he has to fire everything including AKJ, KJx, KQJ, QTx, etc., so I get max value when I'm ahead. OTOH, when I check/raise, it looks really strong and he's probably going to have to fold several hands that he has the odds to call with. He can't really check behind the small two pairs that he'll have to fold to a raise, so I'm also getting fold equity against hands that I'm beating. It works two ways. Comparing it to bet/calling, I think I get called less often while also getting dead money from some hands that would -
$2,000 Buy-in Hu Plo Final (best 2/3)

Well, that hand you posted is a pretty ridiculous spot. It was my 2nd 4-bet in 45 minutes, so he was putting me 100% on AA and probably thought he could steal on the turn if a straight or flush card came. It was the biggest mistake bugstud made the whole tourney and far and away the worst he got it in though. Also, if you're leading for 350, what are your plans for dealing with a shove? Are you bet/folding or bet/calling. -
Just thought that people might find it amusing to comment on the turn action here. 1st in the tourney is $20,000 and 2nd is $12,000. First to two matches wins. I'm playing as my usual aggressive self, running at about 50/35/5.2. For some annoying reason, I can't find bugstud's stats in my database, but he's playing about 65/45/1.7 HU (postflop aggression exactly accurate, other stats somewhat of a guess). In other annoying news, apparently every HH converter around is terribly confused by the private tourneys on stars so here's an unconverted HH.POKERSTARS GAME #15746505223: TOURNAMENT #797055

TY for the lovefest all. I'm probably not going to be playing on my own money for at least a month or two now, so I probably won't be able to "**** it up" for a while as Zach put it unless I really give extra effort.
-
At least against good players anyway. Can't wait until I can play 5/10, I'll probably run at 30 PTBB/100. Even after paying out backers, this is officially my largest tourney cash ever though at $16K so I'm pretty happy. Of course, I already got part of that, but $6400 new money is nice too.

HU PLO final's starting now. Go Tourneys -> Private on Stars and look for the Special HU PLO SnGs if you want to rail.
-
You should probably bring up the 2nd place money thing and how it affects the EV. Because unless villain's a super-nit, it's definitely +cEV and I'm snap-calling that in a MTT. I hate SnGs though. I haven't played a regular 9-handed cash SnG in over a year.Anyway, since some people asked, it looks like I'm about 90% playing the HU PLO final tomorrow. I'll post again when I'm actually starting, but it looks like it will be about 9-10 hours from now after I get some sleep, get up, take a shower and maybe get some lunch. Oh, and get a hold of Bugstud obv.

It's looking like Tuesday or Thursday of next week is when we'll get the match done. My opponent's in LA this weekend and I'm going to be busy most of Monday afternoon/evening.

Well, I didn't even bother to set goals in February because I was thinking seriously about quitting poker. I'm in a little better place than that now, so on with March:1. Low-end: Be profitable at 2/4 for a minimum of 10 BI just to be making some progress. High-end: Make at least $5,000 each for my staker and myself.I could easily best the high-end estimate if I run well, but that's about the highest I have confidence I can do without getting some luck. Those $10K months at 1/2, I was running pretty smooth and lucking into some ridic soft games as well that are pretty tough to find.2. Put in

Because when you get a decent table, people who it is an ego thing for call 100 BB pushes with T9s the whole first hour trying to build a stack because they don't care about the money and just want to win. Trust me, I wouldn't play it if I didn't think I was very +EV there. If I could afford to play the $100 RB long enough for the variance to even out (so every day for 2 years), I bet I'd have at least a 50% ROI.I agree that people play well in the late stages and are very aggressive, but I still feel like I can hold my own there, and there are always a few nits playing 8/4 trying to sneak int

LOL donkaments. Played the $100 rebuy again tonight and had an average stack with 20 players left, but I lost with AJ < 86 and then JT < 88 to end up cashing for only $950. With my 11 rebuys + add-on, I ended up not even recouping my initial investment. I guess even being a little careless knowing I'm going to get staked soon, I still need to stop playing that tournament for now. $1300 is way too much for me to be spending on one tourney.
-
Well, I finally cashed in the $100 rebuy, not that it did much for me. Made a cool $232 profit after my 4 rebuys and the add-on. Lost with KK < AT right after the bubble to finish 26th. Didn't have a big stack or anything, but I would have been at least above average if I could have held. Oh well, I'm not really upset or anything. I'm super content with poker lately now that I don't have to worry if I'm going to have enough money to keep playing or anything. Haven't actually started the staking agreement yet, but I am up 15 or 20 BI on my own money since winning my semifinal in the tourname

I don't know why you have such a time overcoming the variance. Oh wait, could it be because you play as many hands in a month as I play in a busy day? :)I'm kinda joking here and I can get you not being that into it, but I bet if you put 30K or 40K hands in next month, those 16.5 BI of net luck you're down would seem like ancient history. I really think that the PLO games are far and away the most beatable online. The only thing that comes close is probably HU NLHE. I guess MTTs can be pretty soft too, but they make the variance in PLO look like nothing.
-
I'm running at -1.4 BB/100 over 10K hands. Would you prefer that? On the other hand, it's pretty hard to complain when I'm 2-0 in matches with about 65-130 BI of equity on the line at the stakes I was playing for most of the month.

If the blinds are calling with that tight of a range, you should be pushing 72o in a vacuum. Obviously, it's nice to occasionally give them a walk with the very bottom of your range for image considerations, so they continue calling with such an exploitably tight range, but A8o isn't close to something you should question with about 15 bb or less and a fairly large ante. Also, LOL @ saying "the SB and BB each call with the top 11% of their range, what are the odds one of them calls". Actually, maybe it's not that LOL-worthy since most people think it's 22%. It's more like 21% since sometimes th

Yeah, I'm totally going to go with the staking thing, regardless of how the tournament goes. I'll be playing 2/4 off the bat and playing 3/6 and 5/10 fairly quick as long as things go well. Plus, it sounds like I get a little free coaching from a solid winner at 10/20 who plays a similar style to me. Pretty good deal all around.
-
Got an offer last night to get staked for 2/4 PLO too. I'm thinking that if I get 2nd in the tourney, it might not be a bad idea to just cash out my money, pay off my credit cards, give myself some cushion for bills etc., and go on the stake for a while. I'm still leaning towards playing on my own money if I get first, but I'm not 100% there either. I actually think a staking arrangement would be some good structure for me ATM to be honest.
