  1. yeah.. i have microsoft office 2008 for the mac, works exactly the same as the PC version. I also got it without 'paying' and have the set up file if you/anyone is interested.
  2. haha, i was thinkin the same thing. Think it was when they were in Australia
  3. how about dont eat like sht all the time and you have a good chance of not being fat. Meaning dont let your kids eat like sht and they have a better chance of not being fat.
  4. lol.. losing it a bit? Because of a strange meeting with a woman hes now started to suffer from severe lunacy?
  5. Funny how people get on Daniel for deciding not to be as personal in his blogs and write less frequently. Then he writes something personal that he didnt have to tell anyone and people get on him for that. Ridiculous
  6. again.. totally missing my point and knit-picking. You say 'we' turned out fine, but how the hell do you know how however many hundred kids turned out 15 years later. Just because they weren't fat at age 10 doesnt mean eating habits they learned at that age didnt eventually make them obese. And i never said video games etc. didnt contribute as obviously they did. Thats not the point of any of this though. The point is that parents shouuld encourage their children to eat better, plain and simple. Parents should also encourage their kids to get off the computer and what not as well.
  7. damn so many of you are running in such odd directions with this topic. I dont know how people cant agree that healthy food for children is a good thing. I dont know if you have noticed but america has the largest obesity rate in the world, which -- suprise -- will kill people. So many of you are knit picking with such extreme cases, when all Daniel was saying is that people that feed their kids so much that TLC has to film a documentary on them, should be stopped from killing their children. Healthy food in school is a logical choice and i dont know how anyone can argue that
  8. yes ive been spouting lies about childhood obesity. Thats my only real agenda
  9. In situations you just have to go with your gut instinct. It does seem a bit unrealistic that this duo would go from place to place to find celebrities and coax them into giving them their number by doing pseudo-psychic readings. Then again, it is New York City
  10. jeez.. youve got a real pottymouth
  11. Agreed. I also saw a show about an 800lb 19 year old. His mother lost another son before he was born, so she vowed to do anything to make this one happy. He would eat 2 sloppy joes, french fries and 2 litres of pop for BREAKFAST. When he was finally forced into the hospital he was babied so much that doctors couldnt even perform routine checkups because hed cry for his mom if he had to get a needle. In his case, she wasnt a mean parent, quite the opposite and thats what lead to his problem. This issue somply isnt as cut and dry as some of you want to make it out to be. And in his case, it is a
  12. Thats not what hes trying to say whatsoever. And surprise.. we DONT live in a place where obesity is a status symbol. And just because its a status symbol doesnt mean its healthy at all. its a fact you will die younger if youre obese, so if youd rather your elite status but die at age 40 or younger then so be it. Your other points are equally meaningless.. bicycle accidents, and morbid obesities have no similarities. sure a kid in africa would love KFC but poverty and starvation arent the issue either. Why not try to improve our lives where we live?
  13. just like al gore is responsible right? And apparently i watch too much television because thats where i get news?
  14. Football = same deal. Read between the lines instead of taking things a certain way on purpose just to argue
  15. I'd be quicker to point to Bush and the economy. Do you have any idea how expensive it is to put a child into hockey. With equipment (that you have to replace every year because they grow out of it) and registration its well over $1000. Its completely unrealistic at this point in time to expect parents to be able to take 1 or more kids to several different sports. To even afford that they would have to work more than time would allow to even drive kids anywhere.
  16. Your "whole point" isnt even close to being accurate.
  17. Your anecdote is nonsensical. So because some people might be unfit parents, the children should have to pay the price for that by being obese? A better anecdote would be "So i bought a dog and beat the hell out of it, but its the dogs fault because it was barking"If adults want to stuff their faces, or in your case.. assist in shortening their lives.. fine. but we're talking about innocent kids
  18. Jamie Oliver is one of the pioneers of ridding elementary schools of junk food. Heres a snip from wikipedia on his 4 part documentaryJamie's School Dinners (2005) was a four part documentary series. Oliver took responsibility for running the kitchen meals in Kidbrooke School, Greenwich, for a year. Disgusted by the unhealthy fare being served to schoolchildren and the lack of healthy alternatives on offer, Oliver began a campaign to improve the standard of Britain’s school meals. Public awareness was raised, and, subsequent to Oliver's efforts, the UK Government pledged to spend £280m on schoo
  19. GOOD! And make sure not to get frustrated and throw it out a window the first couple days before you get used to it, because once you do you'll wonder why you ever used a PC. Slingbox did in fact release a mac version recently too. Which model did you buy Daniel - the macbook, macbook pro, or macbook air?
  20. haha no no.. im just curious as to whether or not youre just guessing here. I used to get custom PCs years ago but they didnt measure up to the specs of a mac. of course you are paying a bit for the Apple name, but i think the price difference is closer than youre making it out to be when you consider warranties and replacements
  21. than runs OSX with no problems whatsoever for 1 year, and a monitor of equal quality.. i'll take that bet
  22. well for 1 i enjoy not having to have a tower on my desk and prefer only having to have a monitor. secondly to build a computer with the specs that my imac has, as well as buying the 24 inch screen it comes with, i wouldnt be paying much less than 1500 anyways. thirdly, if i do have a problem, taking it to an apple store means i get it fixed same day and at low cost, something they do not do with custom built machines. Fourthly, I have a lot of knowledge in regards to software and OSX, but in regards to building a computer from scratch not so much. Finding a person to do that is also somewhat
  23. Ah, very true. I was still under the impression that was only being done on PCs. However if thats true, theres really no need to use a PC for anything then
  24. yeah.. in regards to engineering and statistics, apple falls behind. Comparing PC and Apple is almost like comparing a mathematician to a writer. PC will dominate in hardcore numbers programs and stastical programs but apple is a much more creative and simplistic design. Obviously I've stepped on some toes of PC fanboys, and windows was great up until vista which was a complete bust. But I do know from my own, and others experiences, that for the everyday computer user (internet, email, online poker) Macs are easier to use, generally more powerful computers. Every notice when you ctrl+alt+dele
  25. so if one person who had nothing to contribute to the subject of a forum ceased to comment, the internet would shut down. Gotcha. Its like on Yahoo Answers someone posts "I dont really know the answer to your question, you should ask a doctor."
