I agree with you both on a bigger turn bet, but the way he's played big flops like this I'm pretty confident half pot is enough to either get him to dump a miss or establish that he's got a piece of it. I don't think he'd just float me there. On the other hand, maybe he had J8 and I'm a donk.

I dunno, I feel like everybody's a bit gung ho about betting this when it seems to me to be a classic it depends scenario. This strikes me as about the most villain dependent thing you can come across. At 50NL, you've definitely got some unobservant, excessively aggressive opponents who will hang themselves if you show weakness and they've got a pair or an ace. I think if you've been c-betting everything, you have to c-bet this, unless you've got a really bad villain who will read any check as weakness. If not, if villain tends to get tricky, c-bet. Otherwise, I think there's a lot to be said

7877 at 3rd break, down from about 10k after a KK v AA debaucle.

4027 at second break.

5450 at the break - got lucky once, other than that I still haven't seen anything remotely good cardwise.

3060 at the break - no hands for the first hour except a set of 8's with a guy betting into me late.

Missed the Razz event because I just moved into my new dorm and didn't have internet yet, and today I have a hangover that feels like death, but I satted into this thing on points, so I'm playing.

This is literally the absolute worst combination of pre- and post-flop play possible. When you play weak cards from the SB against the CL and flop a straight, thank your lucky stars when he moves you in and make the call.

SHLHE is, as far as I know, the single highest variance game out there. I play the same levels and I've definitely had waaaaaaaaay bigger downswings than that. Just keep playing your game and it'll come back.
