vegas trip help

Recommended Posts

Hello,my buddy and I are planning a trip to Vegas to play some NL. We've been playing home games for years and have recently started playing on-line, both doing pretty well. Nether of us have aspirations to become professional poker players or play in the world series. We just want to have a good time and not spend a ton of money. Can we find NL tournaments with 25 or 50 dollar buy-ins? I'm pretty sure we don't have funds for cash games and would get killed anyway as we've pretty much played nothing but tourneys. Any places you'd recommend playing at or staying away from?any advice would be great.

Do some forum searches on vegas tourneys, places to stay etc. You'll find a bunch of threads.I suggest going online to some of the casinos (I did it for MGM) and signing up for a player's club membership. You don't really have to do anything for it, but they'll start sending you promotions for discounted rooms, meal vouchers, etc.

When I was there last summer, the Luxor had a $25 tournament...but it was limit for the first hour and NL thereafter...which was fine...except you started with 250 chips! After 2 hours the blinds were like 200/400...it was ridiculous. A really good tournament is the Sahara tournametn...I think they have it most nights. It's $40 with one $20 rebuy...usually about 80 people I think and first place is around $3000. I think it pays to like 12 people or something...I'm not sure...I got like 17th. Binions is also a fun place to play.
