shrimp4789 0
Live tournament,I have 4,000 chipsBlinds are 50/100In mid position, with Ah5h I decide to limp in, in an unopened pot3 others call behind meblinds foldPot is 550Flop is 2h4d5dI bet 500 into the pot, 1 callerPot = 1550Turn 2sI bet 1,000, he pushes all in for 1,100 more.......Since its very early in tournament, no reads on villian. If I do math right, this is roughly 5-1 for my money, as its costing 1100 to get into a 5700 pot with TPTK + Gutshot. If I loose, I have roughly 1300 left, which is still managable. I was trying a newish style tonight, playing a bit more loose and aggressive, as I am normally a tightish player..........Looking back, should have made a raise preflop I think......other than that I think my bets are as strong as they should be. I know on turn my 1k but leaves me with 2500, but pushing would be quite an overbet, and waste as I see it.......How was this played? And what should I do on river?
NEtwowilldo 0
1. It's second pair top kicker, not top top.2. You're pretty much pot committed, you have to call.3. On the river, he is all in, so you can just sit back, see what happens and either celebrate with a small fist pump, or groan, say dammit, and begin shortstack mode

copernicus 0
Hes most likely on an overpair, so youve got 9 outs, and your calling odds are almost exactly right even if you wouldnt be so short stacked by folding. I think you have to call.I dont like the turn bet. Hes called a nearly pot sized bet on the flop, so he cant have 2 overs unless hes got A/big and figures hes got 10 outs, in which case your splitting if you hit the straight anyway. Check /fold the turn to a reasonable sized bet from him.

Raise or fold. I find limps in mid position scream small pocket pair or a suited ace...
SlackerInc 0
Looking back, should have made a raise preflop I thinkI don't agree that you should have raised preflop; however, I do think you should call now.
shrimp4789 0
so getting mixed replies with this, some say raise preflop some no.......although as played, was it ok?cop, you say c/f the turn to a decent bet.....what would you class as a decent bet? what about river? copernicus 0
I dont mind the limp as long as youve been mixing up the size of pre flop bets. Youre looking more for implied odds than power with Axs.Decent bet? half pot or so. I dont think you get to the river with my line, but as played youve got so many chips in the pot its hard to fold, though Id still consider it and trying to fight back. I really think Im beat here. jmbreslin 0
TPTK + gutshot...think about how weak your hand actually is here. Your pair is a lowly pair of 5's and a GSD isn't worth anything unless you're getting great odds to chase it. I think you overplayed this hand. With 3 limpers behind you, any one of them could be holding a pair better than 5's, not to mention overcards that could render your TPTK useless if they hit. Plus, you're out of position. I would probably have made a smaller flop bet, though I might have even checked, and prepared myself to throw away to aggression. This is the kind of hand that can get you into deep trouble if you overvalue it.
