Anyone Here Plays At East Chicago (or Indiana)?

Recommended Posts

HeyResorts is nice, but isn't that big and doesn't spread a ton of games.Majestic is a dump, but the games are uber soft. These are the only 2 I have been 2...I'm sure others will be of more help.

I just moved to IN and was wondering if anyone knows about the casinos around here and perhaps any review of them...
I've played a few times in East Chicago, once at Resorts and 4 times or so at the Majestic Star II (was the Trump). Resorts is a nicer facility physically. On my first trip, I played some very juicy 5/10 LHE. The second time, they refused to start a table despite a list with 20 names on it. I waited. Nothing happened. I'm done with Resorts.Majestic Star II's poker room has actual windows, which I find to be a pleasant switch. But it smells like the old boat that it is. The poker rate is good (forty something, IIRC). They run a ton of tournaments, which seem to be popular. The smallest NL game is 2/5. It's a 200 max, which drives me crazy. So I'm done with Majestic Star until they change that or I want to play 5/10 NL (which is uncapped).Caesar's Indiana (near Louisville) is a very nice room, but it sounds like that's out of your way.Edit: 200 max.

Resorts and the Majestic II (formerly Trump) are the only 2 that spread poker in that area. I've played extensively in both.Resorts - Spreads 5/10, 10/20 and 20/40 LHE on a regular basis. $200NL and $500NL are always running. Also 1-5 Stud. Bigger NL and PLO games run occasionally on weekends. Also on weekends, they spread 5/10 Omaha Hi-Lo with Full Kill. This game is basically an old man's social club. All the games are soft (can't comment on the higher NL and PLO games since I've never played them). The room is nice though the tables are spread close together. Make sure you get a player's card so that you can get comps.Majestic II - Bigger room than Resorts but I think there's a weird smell in the room. The main games that they spread on a regular basis are 3/6 LHE and $200NL. On weekends, they will offer 6/12 LHE and bigger NL games. Once, I even saw them spread Stud Hi-Lo. Games are uber soft here. I did my time playing the 3/6 minbet game...it's bad beat central but ultimately profitable in the long run. The ppl you find playing here are generally less desirable company than that at Resorts, some actually do smell really bad. Also get a player's card here for your comps. And both rooms offer a bad beat jackpot. Gl sir.

Never played at Resorts...but at Majestic Star the NL game is now a $2-5 blind $300 max buy in game. Unless it's changed again in the last week. They also take $7 time every half hour in time which blows pretty bad. They also spread a $1-2 $100 max NL game with $6 time every half hour which is just straight comical. They have a bigger game but it doesn't get going except for occasionally on weekends. No idea on limit games.

I did go to the resorts once and played $5/$10. Good lord it was a fish table... :club: There were at least 5 or 6 players per each flop. The $10/$20 game was just the same (didn't play in that though)...The comp was $0.10 per hour or something. I remember the guy said if you play 6 hours in one day you get a $10 food card. WTFThe dealers were fast enough, but the casino environment wasn't good.I plan to go to the Majestic next time to check that out..I play mostly limit holdem, but am doing some reading to add some omaha on the side.Cheers,NImaPs. By the way i like this forum, lots of active members :D

That's certainly a move in the right direction. If they have a small 1/2 now for the complete newbie, they should open this one up.

It especially blows when they do all the accounting for the night and count out the $8,000 in cash 3 times with security there.

if you dont play 2/4 or 3/6 limit you will be fine.. the lowest limit game they have at the resorts is 5/10 .. and they occasionally spread a 50/100 game.. in terms of weak play and higher limits.. I think resorts as its good as it gets.
