Played 3 Hands In 3 Rounds And Out

Recommended Posts

Decided to dip my toes into the 100+20 Ceasers tourney in Atlantic City.Started with 5k in chips, limped a few times, got out when nothing hit.Round 2 -- JJI raise it up to 400 (50-100) and get 1 caller.Flop QQxChecked to me, I bet 400, he calls.xChecked again, I bet 800, he calls.xHe bets out 1200. I think for a min and call. Yup, he had the Q.Very next handRound 2 - QQI raise it up to 400, get 1 caller.Flop A33Bets 400 to me. I fold.Round 3 - AQI've got approx 1000 left.50 ante, 100-200 blinds4 or 5 limpers, I'm in BB and go all-inGet one caller "Pot Odds" and he flips 75s (diamonds)Flop Axx (one diamond)Runner runner diamonds and I'm done.I realize I couldn't do much that last hand, and stuff like that happens. In his shoes, I might have made the same call, approx 2200 in the pot, and 550 more to him to call.Next time I play JJ, I guess I have to be wary of the overs and slow down.First 2 rounds were slow (25-50, 50-100).3rd round was pricy (50+ 100-200).I plan to hit that tourney again. I'm not sure if I should be a bit more aggressive in the first couple of rounds, so I don't have to push in the 3rd.I ended up getting about 1/2 back at the 1-2 NL game after cooling down.

I think the hands are fine how they are played except hand 1. You've shown aggression the entire hand and then they bet into you on the river? almost definitely a Q here, IMO. I'd probably check behind on the turn after he called your flop bet, and call a small bet on the river, fold to pot sized bet or so.No reason to put so much in the pot w/ a pair of J's when the way it was played, I don't see how you're ahead.

From what I can see, this structure looks deceptively like a deepstacked but actually will get shallow quickly with high blinds. I would say that you need to adapt your game and avoid limping frequently, I think it will catch up with you quickly. Onto the hands:Hand 1-Preflop, flop, and turn all look pretty good, but river is easy laydown IMO. Sometimes I check turn and reevaluate but a bet isn't terrible.Hand 2- Unless you have a specific read, this is probably a good fold, well played.Hand 3- Absolutely standard, bad luck sir.

No need for a 2nd thread, for my 2nd dip in...Same tourney. This time I lasted until Round 6.Had a few freindly folks at the table, one who said he played this tourney a lot, and recognized the fella at the other end. Apparantly this villain has a rep for raising with KQ an awful lot.I fought to maintian my starting amounts, and managed to double to near 10k (still less than average), when the villain raises to 5k (300 ante, 600-1200). I look down to find AK, figure I have a good chance to double and push all-in. Villain calls and shows KJ. I'm stoked until the flop comes KJx, turn 10, river x. I knew I got my $$ into the pot at the right time. Of course, that didn't earn me any $$ today. Perhaps next time. I did manage to hit a double-belly-buster draw... Some folks mentioned "wow, it the gutshot", I was slightly taken aback, and explained it was a dbb. Blank looks. "I had 8 outs, just like an open ended"... "Oh, OK". I'll keep quiet next time.I think my next trip will be ISO a non-ante, freindlier structured tourney... I know, good luck finding one at a casino...

Friday at noon 50K gtd at the Borgata. Reports are they've been getting over 400 (it's 250+30) so prize pools over 100K. It's running at least through November and I'm hoping they'll extend it into December because I don't think I can make it this month. 6K chips to start, 30 minute somewhat more reasonable levels.1st - $25 - $502nd - $50 - $1003rd - $100 - $2004th $25 $100 - $2005th $50 $200 - $4006th $75 $300 - $600The JJ hand I bet more on the flop - 600 or so, check behind on the turn and fold to the river bet all other things the same. But I'm over passive. Couple of tough beats in there though.
