Wsop Me...planned Levels?

Recommended Posts

Wondering if anyone who played, or is at the Rio, has seen anything published as to what Harrah's was anticipating for day to day # of players, and anticipated number of levels played each day.I read on CP that no matter when the final 9 is reached, final table won't go until August 10th. I was curious what there expectations were, versus what looks like a reality of a 2-3 day break.Could be interesting with several days to "savor" the thought of a final table (and 12+ mil.) versus going to sleep, and waking up the next day (or day after) and heading straight back to poker, without having multiple days for reflection. Thanks in advance.

At this stage in the tournament the average chip stack per player and the fact the blinds mean absolutely nothing will take a lot of playing time in order to reach the final 9 players between now and Thursday. Harrah’s expectations are to bring the final 27 player back on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. Starting with 27 players on Tuesday will allow for a long day if necessary maybe even 24 hours of play to reach the final 9. That said, we would like the players to have a day off in order to rest, give interviews, and get prepared to play for the largest first place prize in the history of poker, $12 million.

Thanks, is this posted anywhere? or is the original "anticipated schedule" posted somewhere?I agree that there "should" be alot of play, but it seems to be overly aggresive (IMO). Curious if there was a "standard" used from past years to anticipate the numbers each day, and if so...is this years play significantly more aggressive overall than past years? therefore eliminating people quicker.Thanks.

With each year the fields become larger and the "Standard" must continue to change. At this point in the game the average chip stack is so large it makes the elimiation process much slower. Of course, there is a few short stacks that will go fast.

At this point the average player is starting the day with 50 times the big blind.

That would be a great way to wrap up a horribly run WSOP. Make em play for a day straight.Maybe The Rio should just send them home now and have them play down to 9 on the internet. What a joke.

Not true at all. This field is hardly "Standard."Have you seen the play? These are internet qualifiers on freerolls. They can't wait to get it all-in preflop with AK, AQ, QQ, JJ and worse. This thing could be over tomorrow if The Rio wanted it to be.When you see 10 10 vs. 99 all-in preflop when two players have 65x BB it makes things alot clearer about the pace of play.I provide example #1....WeiKai Chang raises to $60,000 from the cutoff. The button, the small blind, and the Paul Wasicka in the big blind call. Chang bets $45,000 on the flop of 875. Wasicka raises $400,000 and Chang re-raises all-in for $800,000 more. Wasicka calls and shows 87. Chang shows 87. The turn is the 7 and the river brings the 8. With all of the sevens and all of the eights in play, Chang and Wasicka chop a pot, each with 8's full of 7's. Yeah...sounds like things are slowing down all right.

What a joke. Not true at all. This field is hardly "Standard."First of all you have it all wrong! I was not talking about the players field being "Standard"! By all means it is NOT standard. Most of the players are NEW young guys. Yes, a lot of them are internet players that won a seat.Obviously you did not take the time to read what I wrote or you would have understood what I was saying.

And you wouldn't get it all in with top 2 pair? Come on, quit jumping on the band wagon. If this tourney has been run sooo so bad, who has run one better with player fields this size over a period of time this long? Kudos to the staff who pulled this together. Go look one of the dealers in the eye and tell them the tourney has been bad. Or go see Margie running the satellites and tell her. She'll shove her microphone down your throat. Have their been errors? Sure. But to expect perfection 24/7 for 6 weeks it a bit lofty.
