Guest
if i've switched to a more aggressive mode, would short handed be more profitable for me? which type game do more players make money in?also, i've heard the swings are bigger shorthanded, but isn't it less likely to pick up a monster which is 2nd best? ForRealDD 0
Shorthanded play favors aggressive play. Players are less likely to pick up a hand and you only have a max of 5 people that can connect with the flop. The swings are bigger because you are involved in many more pots than 10 handed play. Most of my shorthanded money comes from raising with marginal-strong hands and forcing my opponent to fold when they miss. If you can fine tune your short-handed play, you'll have your opponents tilted and reloading frequently.
KingAustin 0
Long handed, lol, never heard it put that way.*I have nothing to add, just thought this was funny*
Advanex13 0
I agree with the above 2 posters.I used to stink playing a short handed game. Now I'm much more better at it than I am playing a full table.
doublemeup 0
I love short-handed. If you're agressive this will work well for you. You have to be able to pick up a lot of small pots. A full table is much different and favors the tighter player. I like short-handed better but theres much bigger swings in it.

ForRealDD 0
You can absolutely crush the game when you've moved the players out of thier comfort zone. I prefer the maniac table image. Example from last night (wish I had the hand history)I have established my table image and have doubled my buy in. .50/1.00 NLHero (MP): K-KVillan(MP+1): ?-?Hero: raises to 5Villan: Calls 5Flop: 10 - 6 - 2 rainbowHero: Bets 9Villan: calls 9Turn: 4Hero: ChecksVillan: ChecksRiver: QHero: all in about $100.00Villan: Calls all-in for about $40.00Hero shows K-K , pair of KingsVillan shows 9-9 , pair of NinesOnce you have your mark(s) tilted, I think you will find them committing financial suicide quite often. JayPaav 0
Short-handed. definately. short handed allows you to play a broader range of hands without the risk of being reraised out of the pot.

Sometimes when i bet on the flop and miss then i'll check on the turn so they think that when i check on the turn i bluffed and got caught so i'll check with a big hand. Then on the river i love the big bet because it just looks like i'm trying to steal the pot. That was a good example of why short-handed is so profitable.
nritchi3 0
I agree that shorthanded is much better for you if your aggresive. I play most of my cash games shorthanded now. But if your gonna do it make sure you have a very large bankroll. Ive gone on 300 BB downswings. and i know people who've had worse. Also be sure that you can emotionally handle the swings, don't wanna be playing on tilt all the time.
SuM827 0
you know, it's funny.... I'm a very aggressive player in ring games and tourneys. But whenever I play shorthanded NL against bad players I pretty much just sit there and trap idiots for all of their chips. I mean, in NL the blinds are so low, you can just sit there and let people run over you until you pick up a big hand.
