hands from the fcp vs nwp tournament

Recommended Posts

I have been meaning to post some key hands from the FCP vs NWP tournament I recently won. Here they are...I hadn't gotten my chips in but once before with AK, and I had been picking up a lot of small pots up until this point, playing fairly LAG but showing very few hands.I was chip leader or top 5 through a good part of the tournament, which gave me a lot of options.Villian (SB) is poguemahone, who has been playing very tight. I think it might be one of the few mistakes I made in this tournament. But it is certainly up for discussion.--------------PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (7 handed) converterCO (t2938)Button (t5490)SB (t1885)BB (t7395)UTG (t3392)Hero (t5470)MP2 (t1190)Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 9:diamond:, 9:heart:. On the hand with Pogue - I put Pogue on 88-AA, AQs, AKo, AKs; given that, you were under 40% to win the pot using Pokerstove. Based on that, the pot would need to have 3,500+ for you to make the call. So, basically a fold.If you widen Pogue's range, then it becomes closer. Based on the chat afterwards, I believe that Pogue thought that you should have folded.

Opponent is desperate and I put him on any broadway, any pair, any two suited; based on that, Q10s is a slight favorite in this hand.Call.On the other hands, I liked your play. On the A9o hand, you were on the button and BB came back over the top. You had him covered and I play it like a headsup situation and I'll call with any A with an 8 or better kicker. On the A10 hand, the raiser had a bigger stack than you so I think that your fold was appropriate

Probably a fold, if your description of the situation is accurate.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Who wants to call a raise out of position with a marginal hand? I do, I do!

It could be table respect, or it could be somebody taking a shot at the pot after missing completely. I tend to think it's the latter. I know I wouldn't fold any jack after that ridiculous check-raise.

I don't want to play the guessing game with AT against DKE, who has raised UTG, either.

I don't think a fold is warranted. The BB could push with hands much worse than yours (KQ-K9, A8-A2) as well as any pair (some of which you race, most of which you aren't in terrible shape against).
