DanielNegreanu 141
6 countries represented by 6 players. Buy in for the team is $300k. Example 6 teams could look like: USA, Smith, Mercier, Selbst, Seidel, Raghavan, Volpe, Kenney Canada, Negreanu, McDonald, Mizzi, Duhamel, Watson Germany, Shemion, Rettenmaier, Gruissem, UK Chidwick, Vamplew, Lewis, Silver, Ziyard, Kamel Russia Bilokur, Puchkov, Gulyy, Lahkov, Kurganov, Vitkind France Hairabedian, Grospellier, Pecheux, Ktorza, Lacey, Pollack In the preliminary stage each player will play in a heat starting with 100k in chips and the following structure: 40 minute levels 500-1000 (100) 600-1200 (200) 800-1600 (200) 1000-2000 (300) 1200-2400 (300) 1500-3000 (400) 2000-4000 (500) 2500-5000 (500) 3000-6000 (1000) 4000-8000 (1000) 500-10000 (1000) Two heats would be played per day over three days. One starting at noon, the second of the day starting at 8pm. Each heat would have the following payouts: 1st $60,000 (60 big blinds for the final) 2nd $50,000 50bbs 3rd $40,000 40 bbs 4th $30,000 30 bbs 5th $20,000 20 bbs 6th $10,000 10 bbs After all 6 heats are completed all the big blinds accumulated by the team will be their bank for the final. The average stack will start with 210 big blinds, or 210k at the final table. The max possible stack is 360k, the shortest possible stack is 60k. For the first six levels, each member of the team must play at least one level. After level 6, a new player must play every level, but you can repeat as you wish. For example you can switch back and forth from Phil Ivey to Erik Seidel over and over. The structure will look like this: 40 minute levels 1-3 then 60 minutes after that: 500-1000 (100) 600-1200 (200) 800-1600 (200) 1000-2000 (300) 1200-2400 (300) 1500-3000 (400) 2000-4000 (500) Dinner Break 2500-5000 (500) 3000-6000 (1000) 4000-8000 (1000) 5000-10,000 (1000) 6000-12,000 (2000) 8000-16,000 (2000) 10,000-20,000 (3000) Payouts for the final table would look like this: 1st $250,000 2nd $165,000 3rd $125,000 This would be so much fun and the final table would be extremely skillful and deep! FCP Bob 1,321
This reminded me of a thread from rec.gambling.poker from 10 years ago that Daniel also posted in. Fun to see the different names that Daniel suggests now compared to then for Canada https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.gambling.poker/GRqdVef9ocI Fun idea, I thought I'd post my "Canadian Olympic Team" Daniel Negreanu Randy Holland Howard Goldfarb Mark Stubbs TJ Cloutier Rob Gingras Sam Siharath Pat Pezzin Alex(forgot his last name) Dave Sharf These are just off the top of my head so if you are a Canadian that belongs on the list don't get offended :-) What I will go out on a limb and say though, is that I truly believe a Canadian team would belong in the top five (USA, England, Costa Rica, France) The US woudl clearly be the number one seed, after that it's questionable I think, but I would still go with England second. Vegas Knights 56
Glad you didn't include Australia so we don't have to hear that "Aussie Aussie Aussie- Oye Oye Oye!" chant every time an Australian wins a pot. USA! USA! sounds so much better.
UBVICTIM 0
Why isn't Hellmuth mentioned for the U.S.A team?? I personally have 75k locked on UB the site he co-founded and the site he refuses to answer any questions in regards to his role in the entire mess!! Meanwhile MANY players lives have been ruined and nobody is held responsible. Hellmuth continues to be paid by IOVATIONS which his good buddy GREG PIERSON started with stolen money. Pierson was in the crowd when Hellmuth made the final table to the one drop 2 yrs ago and I know for a fact he bought at least 15% of his action. So all these yrs after he is still reeking the benefits from STOLEN AND CORRUPT $$$$. I know its not the forum, but I just wanna let the public know what a scumbag this guy is and if you happen to see him plz voice your displeasure!! And there is a video with him and another scumbag Russ Hamilton betting stolen $$$$ like its monopoly having a good ol time just youtube PHIL AND RUSS GOLFING ITS PRETTY SICKENING!!! Razorheart 0
Daniel! I think you have missed the Olympic spirit in two points: Any country can compete regardless of skill level. The Olympics was from the start an "amateur" competition, not so anymore but they have kept it free from prize money and sponsors.

Do you think think the winning team should stand on a podium and have their national anthem played while wearing their medals. Maybe some of the poker players on the podium could sing along while their country's anthem is being played.
Razorheart 0
That is kind'a the point with the olympics...
