99 Fairly Early In The Money Of $10 Tourney

ok so we're still at the stage where the money is virtually meaningless (~$30), and if i were to go out here im not happy just cos i cashedFull Tilt PokerNo Limit Holdem TournamentBlinds: t600/t1200(Ante: t150)8 playersConverterHero: 27305Villain: 12842average ~20kPre-flop: (8 players) Hero is UTG+1 with 9 :D 9 :club: UTG folds, Hero raises to t3600, MP1 calls t3600 (pot was t6600), 5 folds.Flop: T :D 5 :D J :D (t10200, 2 players)Hero bets t6000, MP1 raises all-in t9092, Hero calls t3092 (pot was t25292).Turn: J :) (t28384, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t28384)River: 4 :) (t28384, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t28384)Results:Final pot: t28384this is basically the hand that took me out of the running for final tabling. Im really not sure if i played it well or not. these are my thoughts:i had to raise preflop. i suppose i could of limped, but stealing the blinds and antes seemed like the no-brainer option at this stage of the tourney. is this what most people would do?then i fired a sort of coninuation bet, sort of bet with a weak hand type bet, and once he went all in over the top i had to call, cos there was no chance i was folding to 4000 more in that spot.so i personally am not sure if i played the hand wrong, but since it was the key hand in the tourney for me i thought i would post it and see what people think

Hmmm, I'd be a little suspicious of the flat call of 25% of his stack from MP1. Looks like he is begging for a squeeze. Combined with the two overs, I'd probably check/fold the flop. As played, you have to call.

I'm not sure I'd bet 2/3rd of what he has behind on the flop since as you say, you're priced in to call if he shoves. If I'm leading here, I'm shoving. Most likely I check the flop and decide what to do if he bets. If I'm getting it all in, why not let him bluff at it with worse hands?

Since he didn't reraise preflop I don't put him on AK, AQ, QQ, JJ, or TT... He was either trapping with a monster (AA,KK), or more likely calling with a good hand that has potential, but not quite something he wants to commit all his chips to preflop. (AJ, AT, KQ, KJ, QJ, JT, 88, 77). Most of those hands like this flop, and if you read him as being solid I think it's ok to check/fold this flop. This lets 88, 77 and KQ outplay you, but I think most of his holdings have you beat pretty badly at this point. Now, if he was a donk that can't fold small pairs preflop or doesn't reraise with AK or AQ when shortstacked, then I like the way you played it.
