Seriously. Maybe its just me but one big bet an hour doesn't seem like that much for a successful poker player. I think that this may be true at the higher limits but I can't see how for lower limits. So I'm over at my girlfriend's place and she falls asleep. For this to work she has to be asleep because she would kill me if she ever saw me playing poker on her computer. I download pokerstars software (which I will remove when I'm finished playing) and log on to my name. I sit at a 15-30 table with $500 to see what I can do. One hour (or about 75 hands later) I walk away with a $1267 profit. Now, in no way am I saying that this happens everytime that I sit down but making $1000 in 15-30 is fairly easy. The reason why I'm posting these hands is because I tried to tell people awhile ago that during the summer, I would sit down at a 15-30 game and walk away once a made $1000 for the day. I told them that it could take me anywhere from 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours but at any rate, I was smashing the 1 big bet an hour rule. Actually every expierienced player. Congratulations on your win, but it means les sthen nothing. You need more like 10k hands to get within 1BB of your expected winrate. And like someone else said, for solid expierienced players over more than 50k hands 2-3.5BB is much much more common than 1BB.Also, not to be too hard on you, I know your pumped on your win, but noone wants to see these hands.

I would hardly call those flops lucky. I would say that I outplayed my opponents most of the time and extracted the maximum amount of money that I possibly could from them. If I flopped a set on a board where the pot was previously raised, I would lead out (knowing that the preflop raiser was going to raise me) and get extra bets in there when I checkraised his sorry but on the turn. I would also make really stupid bets when I knew I was beat to create action for me in the long run. For example, the flop is A,K,9. I lead out with pocket 8's and get raised, I call. A 10 comes on the turn and I checkraise with my pocket 8's not because I thought that I had the best hand but because I was setting my opponents up for later on. A blank comes on the river and I lead out and get called. Of course my 8's are crushed but more importantly the table sees that my checkraises are not to be respected. Although I may have lost a few big bets, I basically ensured that for the rest of the night I got called down when I checkraised and had a good hand. I'm not going to say that this post will help you to become a better player but I thought that it was interesting and to show that these games can be beat for more that the suggested amount per hour.

Why is the 2-2 horribly played? Maybe its just because I'm a very aggressive player but I like to raise with low pocket pairs. First of all, if I have position on the player I get to act last on all betting rounds. I also get to eliminate other potential callers that would probbaly win the hand had I not raised. Plus, I like to isolate bad players. I'm not a player that will only call with small pocket pairs and hope to hit a set on the flop. I like to outplay my opponents and if I think my pocket 6's are good after an ace and a king hit the board but I think my opponent is on the draw with JQ or 10J, then I will make the calldown and try to takedown the pot.I am a loose aggressive player and if I see opportunities, I try to pounce on them. Like a cat. Or something like that. Ummmm... ok.

I have no issues with the raise pre-flop, but betting out on every round is just dumb. You were lucky that you found someone dumber to call every time.2-2 with five overcards on the board is a major underdog to any random hand.Presumably this guy just couldn't let go of his A-K or whatever.Kramit - ta.
