I haven't come close to doing that. My showing that one thing doesn't imply another doesn't imply that I'm trying to negate the other. You're the one committing a fallacy.

Er, wait, my argument was that "can feel pain == can't kill" implies "vegetarian," not that "can feel pain" implies "okay to give pain and murder". It was a rebuttal against the "feel pain" argument. In reality, I think that argument is moot to begin with. For the record, I too think that we should minimize pain...?

So, if "being able to feel pain" is the litmus test, I'm assuming you're all vegetarian, right?

The Official Obama Scorecard Thread

It was? Did you actually think that he was referring to death camps run by Polish people as opposed to death camps in Poland? Am I wrong, or is this the stupidest "controversy" every? (Hint: I'm not wrong). In fact, it's actually a pretty good thing to have happened. It's a good litmus test to weed out people who simply insult the President for no real reason whatsoever. -
Eh, I'd be more comfortable if I knew what the guitarist for Sonic Youth thinks about this issue. Are any of you in THAT band?

I thought we say, "How much did she cost?"

So, is calling the President "gay" being biased for him, or against him? -
The Rangers played a pretty weak game last night, but still managed to win by 3 goals and get the shutout. I think the Devils will prove to be the weakest of the three opponents we've faced so far, or at least the team that the Rangers match up best against. Similar to the Washington series, it will be about preventing the Devils from setting up in our zone and maintaining possession for long stretches. The times during the second period where the Devils looked great were the result of defensive mistakes that allowed them to hold it in and to cycle around the defenders. If we win battles i

That may have been our best game of the playoffs. Excellent effort by the Rangers, and we earn the right to play against the Devils.Boy, that Richards signing over the summer seems to be playing dividends, doesn't it?

What Is The Last Movie You Saw?
LongLiveYorke replied to Alter-Ego's topic in Entertainment: Television, Movies & Music
I saw "Melancholia" last night, which is a film by Lars Von Trier. I don't really want to talk much about the plot because I really didn't know anything about it going in, and I think that helped my experience. It's a very strange movie, and a very beautiful one. It was so different than most things I'm used to seeing. Worth checking out, if you want to watch a 2+ hour artistic movie with Kirstin Dunst... -

Oh, I'm sorry, was our magical device that connects people all around the world and allows you, even on your phone, to converse and share media with the entire globe not good enough for you? -
That game last night was one for the ages. I'm not sure how the Caps will live that one down emotionally, but I fully expect them to come out 100% tomorrow back in Washington. Rangers have to pounce early and maintain pressure for 60 minutes, we really don't want to go to a game 7.

Ah, I see it now. I think my confusion was that the transfer forgot where I was in some (all?) threads, but that's to be expected.Cool beans. -
It's slow for me too, but I'm assuming for now it has to do with the fact that old posts are still being translated over to the new database, which could take a bit of the weekend.
