  1. "i'm in calgary too, but the difference is that not all of our homicides are gun-related. and the fact that when there is even a single gun related homicide, the entire city knows about it and it is talked about for days. people in the states don't even hear about half of their gun homicides."Let me get this straight - So your saying that a non-gun related murder is not as bad as a murder with a gun?And please the US is a huge contry with many different people and places please don't catorise us all at once.
  2. Source, please.DevThat is a common well known fact. Not hard to find if you look for it. You can find it on the NRA web site. If you don't believe them: it was also reported by none other than that great bastion of news Dan Rather and also in London Daily Telegraph. Just search for it.Happened in Australia too!!!
  3. Are you smoking crack?? Do you live in Canada or even know what your talking about? I live in Calgary Canada and we have had 12 homicides here so far this year...not alot by the standards of a large American city...but certainly alot more than 3 per year!! If you are trying to assert that we are some sort of crime free utopia...you need to get your facts straight. And by the way, a good number of the 12 homicides were shootings...and there have been 1,858 reported assaults so far this year, which include discharge of a firearm. My point is, you seem to have some sort of idealistic vision
  4. Why is it that you say Brady stats are slightly skewed and NRA are more heavily skewed? Showing your bias aren't you? The NRA takes great pains to use data from outside sources and the US government. They are meticulous about footnotes and references. They know that every stat they put out will be gone over with a fine tooth comb by the anti-gun media, while everything that Brady and HCI says is trumpeted out without any research."Do you really think there would be less violence in the U.S. if every single person had a gun on them at all times? Really?" Of course not. What a ridiculous
  5. This is easy for the most part.Alcohol, pools, cigarettes, fatty foods - all only kill someone if they CHOOSE to partake. I have yet to be ambushed by a french fry in a dark alley.Cars and motorcycles kill most of the time due to accident.Guns kill, most of the time, because of a concious choice of the owner to use it in a violent manner (keeping accidental shooting deaths aside). Not at all the same thing.DevMany children die in accidental drowning in pools and I am sure they didn't chose too.And accidents caused by drunk drivers kill a lot of innocent people who didn't choose to partake. And
  6. I could see how the presence of a gun in a home could increase the odds of a shooting. What a dil.doJust quoting the statistics, man. Unlike most of the posts, including yours which is purely opinion, in this thread this one is pure stats from Brady campaign.orgAnd you're a prick. Quoting the Brady folks won't get you any brownie points from me. You might as well be quoting MeinKampf.Hey while your at it get some quotes from that liar Michael Moore to prove your point. Proven by whom? I don't understand the hate for Brady. He was shot defending your right wing guy (Reagan) and now the rig
  7. "This is the American culture. A culture that produces more crimes than any other country in the world. It's a fact."Such a blatantly wrong statement proves that anything you say is subject to doubt. Heck it brands you to be a moron.
  8. i agree to a point...i still dont see why certain assualt rifles are legeal for private citizens to own.. i own a few handguns,i have a daughter so they are stored correctly..i dont feel the need to own an uzi or ak47,i dont get the need for ppl to own them unless they are in the militaryI understand what you're saying and almost want to agree with you BUT what does an assault rifle do that a hunting rifle won't? I've purchased 75 round clips for hunting rifles. I mean they aren't selling fully autos anymore. You need a class 3 license for something like that. I still agree with you that I
  9. Has anyone ever heard of anyone actually using a gun successfully to defend himself against a criminal? Ever? No really, ever? Please read the thread. The answer has already been posted. And yes according to the FBI and other sources about 2 million times a year.
  10. I decided to try one of Party's $250.00 free rolls last night. Well I didn't even play the first hour (I was watching Survivor) then when I started I landed in a table with a couple of nice people and started having fun.I never got any good cards but there were plenty of bad players so I stayed near the average most of the time.6.5 hours later I finished in 3rd out of 2200 for a grand total of $20.00 a whopping $3.00 and hour!A huge waste of time but fun none the less.I hope I didn't ruin my karma for Saturday's $250,000 GrandStand at Pacific!!!

  14. That is without a doubt a comment that will get into my list of the top ten of the most ridiculous comment i've read.Have you often heard of someone who miraculously survived a criminal attack because he was able to defend himself and shoot the criminal ? It's something I've never heard of.At the opposite, I've heard ton of stories in which normal people became unwillingly criminals because they had a gun nearby while "being on tilt"...I don't want to start a politic war but I'm proud to be Canadian on that point... See Michael Moore for further explanations... If you have never heard of someo
  15. yeah, i really don't think when people are considering a trip to go play poker that they are torn between vegas and seattle."i really want to go to vegas since i haven't been in years and with the wynn opening and everything. but damn, seattle is looking sweet, well with the constant rain and highest suicide rate in the country. come on honey, we're off to seattle!"thank you for staying in California...but really, you missed my point. It's not the fact that it's Seattle. It could be California, North Dakota, Hawaii, wherever... What I was really trying to say was that you can make a decen
  16. Hint, next time make it look like him and not Mark McGuire.
  17. Great artical from BTP.comhttp://www.bet-the-pot.com/sng-and-br-stat...ats-page18.html
  18. Ouch! Do you drop limits once this happens?I usually play $8 and $16 2 table games at Pacific and I mix in an occasional $30 guarantee $30K. I also dabble a little at Party. No I haven't dropped down yet. I have learned that if I am on a bad streak I move from my tight/aggressive play for tournament to a more lose approach, that is a big leak that I need to plug. Kind of like a mini tilt that helps perpetuate the streak.
  19. I just finished a loosing streak of 18 in a row. My worst streak ever. Hard on the bankroll. My previous streak was 12. I normally average cashing about 2 out of 5. On the other hand before I began this last streak, I cashed in 7 out of 9. Including 2 firsts and 3 seconds. So it runs both ways.I would have a minimum of 20 but 30 would be better.
  20. You don't put your tournament life on the line when you have a big chip stack and are getting close to the money in a tourney like that unless you have the nuts. Now in a regular cash tourney where the big money is in winning, you would have been right to call.
  21. Does anyone here use Poker Tracker, is it worth the $$$...??ThanksSAM
