  1. My company let people who are really challenged working from home (e.g. unreliable internet, no place to dedicate to work etc.) to return to the office, only about 60-70 people. Buzz is not to expect any large scale return until after the start of the year.
  2. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night.
  3. Thanks for the sympathy fellas. It was a rough week. I'm really stressed out from all this stuff plus it's our busy season at work and things are not going smoothly. I'm pretty much resigning myself to the fact that I'm going to need to get an apartment in KS. Blondie's house has zero room for any of my stuff, not even clothes, and I refuse to live all day every day in a sardine can. I figure even if I spend every night at her house I can keep most of my clothes and some furniture at the apartment and just go over there for work. Plus my cats can live there.
  4. After I get relocated and get a bit settled in my first planned expenditure is to get a good office chair, likely a Herman Miller. I'm tired of cheaping out and being disappointed after the break in period.
  5. Yeah, if their discussing that kind of living arrangement change without animosity they sound pretty well adjusted. Like they aren't trying to use the kid as a weapon against each other or anything stupid like that. My advice is just roll with it. I don't think this should be an area of you life where you strategerize too much, you will probably surprise yourself. I, for example, never really wanted kids but when I started dating a woman with 3, they really grew on me and now I couldn't be happier for having them in my life. Buy the ticket, take the ride.
  6. Can I call you "daddystrat?"
  7. Ok so I had to check out the trailer to sate my curiosity. Looks good.
  8. Like half those sound like movie names a desperate bullshit artist made up to sound like they were an industry insider. "Oh honey, the First Cow project at studio X is just a train wreck." The only one I recognize is Old Guard.
  9. Yeah, that's bugging me. I was honestly contemplating renting until next spring to try and scoop up a property on the cheap from some unfortunate soul but I think any modest gain in price will be offset over the life of the mortgage by interest rate climbs. I just don't see 3% lasting for a year. I'm starting to look at properties with unfinished areas as more of an opportunity. Doing something like adding a bedroom would be a nice equity bump to mitigate the higher asking prices we're seeing I think. Blondie is going to an open house to recon a place tomorrow. It's a 4bd/3ba but it's framed o
  10. No pain, no gain. It takes time to toughen up the taint I would imagine. Man, this is really a seller's market. I haven't even completed the seller's disclosure or had pictures taken of my place yet and there's an interested buyer.
  11. Lost the bid on the house. It sounds like the other guys offered above asking. I'm still moving forward with getting my house ready to sell. My realtor says it is very much a seller's market so I can set 90 day close etc. and still probably expect multiple offers. I think we're going to do what they call "in office" listing first. We'll get the listing together but it will only be available to his coworkers unless/until I say list it. This way I might never have to worry about getting out of the way for multiple viewings per day and stuff like that. He says there's a very good chance that as s
  12. HOA thingy was no worry. Apparently the covenant paperwork was created when the houses were built but the developers never followed through on actually creating the entity or electing a board etc. However, another bidder has entered the picture. We put in our final offer tonight with a 10 AM deadline so we'll see what happens. Part of me will be bummed if we lose the place but another part of me would be ok as it would let me get some of the more cosmetic details on my house taken care of that will help keep my selling price up. It's not bad but as far as quick places they are mostly
  13. No HOA but they have what they call a "Community Advisory Board" for which the paperwork reads pretty much like all the burden/restrictions of an HOA to the homeowner but there's no common areas (afaik) like a pool, clubhouse, or park that they are responsible for maintaining. Also it looks like the "assessments" are simply the special taxes on the new build. What is unclear is if and how funds from my taxes make it to the Board and how they would go about handling any assessments for covenant violations. This will require some more investigation.
  14. It is close to Wamego. The only reason I know this is that we went to their fireworks display one year and it was really good for a small market but would be considered just ok as a major metro area display probably. I don't think we'll be heading to Topeka other than for maybe soccer games. KC only takes a couple hours to get to so that's not terrible. We are likely going to submit an offer on the house we looked at this weekend. 5bd/4ba (3 with en suite access). Roughly 4000 sq ft for asking price of $98/sq ft. This means I gotta get my ass in gear and figure out what I need to do to g
  15. Looks like you still owe us an edibles report.
  16. Mostly correct. No chance of baby Hank, it would be a medical miracle. Oh.
  17. It's about 1/5 the size of Lincoln. Also, Lincoln has become a bit of a silicon prairie for start ups and the Lincoln/Omaha area has some good companies in the payments processing arena which is what I've been doing for the last 12 years. Manhattan is primarily agribusiness oriented. There is one company down there I've been keeping an eye on but I'm thinking they might be a good target for acquisition by my company.
  18. Nope. Manhattan, KS. Thus why remaining with my current company was so important to me. There aren't a lot of positions for me down there. Might change once I get a little more networked in but kinda doubtful.
  19. I miss everything. I'm sure SA was looking fly and Strat's lady was a full on Betty. Was in KS most of the week. Heading back down tonight because a strong contender for a house just came on the market so we're going to look at it tomorrow. President of the company signed off on me moving to remote employee saying "I have every confidence in Damian's ability" to be a remote manager. So that was nice. Talked to a lender last week. Rates are bouncing around like a seismograph on San Andreas but, so far, seems to be with in a percentage or two range. I'd love to get locked in at 2.99
  20. Izze has 19g sugar from the fructose of the fruit juice. But Bai has 1g sugar from alternative sweeteners. I find the taste of most diet soda's repellent so this was a good alternative for me.
  21. Hey, I made soda substitute suggestions and posted some underboob. It wasn't all nerd shit.
  22. Nevermind, just had to phrase my google search properly. You bunch of slackers.
  23. I like Bai Bubbles and izze sparkling juices but izze is pretty high on sugar still. Qualifier up front: it has been many, many seasons since I've done much with excel beyond basic formulas and value comparisons so please take pity on this poor, stupid man. I'm trying to put a spread sheet together that is essentially a schedule. Each member on one of my teams is required to put in 20 hours spread over 10 days toward a project. They can do this 5 total shifts of 4 hours each. So one guy could do 4 shifts in 2 days and 1 shift on a 3rd day and he would fulfill the requirement. Anoth
  24. So with me getting the blessing to relocate and stay with current employer, blondie and I are discussing the merits of building vs. buying. Any one ever done a build?
