  1. Basically what I have been thinking about this move, since it was a tournament decider for me, is that I rushed that hand, and making my tournament life a coinflip instead of more solid play. Since I am new to the final table playstyle, i am wondering in my assertion that I should have played this hand much slower then I did. Seeing as Villain gave me plenty of opportunities to call, i was just too greedy, and probably completely overplayed my hand. Anyway, since it was headsup, I was under the assumption that I was ahead of the villain with my pocket tens. And I would really like to know if y
  2. Such a different attitude from the strategy forum to be found here.. Sadly. Ow well, can´t be helped. Thanks for trying.
  3. Hey guys,I'm new to poker (2 months now), and was just placed second in my first, seriously played, tournament on fulltilt. With a relatively nice payout seeing as my bankroll is 4 to 5 times bigger as it has ever been.. (not to brag, my bankroll was just never really above $150, so to me these winnings are a big deal). Now I am wondering what to do, should I withdraw this money, invest it? My plans for poker are quite serious, not saying that I would like to become a pro (I wouldn't want to overestimate myself), merely saying that I want to invest to let my bankroll grow. Not just because of
  4. I think I am.. 70 times BB, is plenty for me to play as though it's 100. I play for flops and after flop play. So my initial post is not out of feeling uncomfortable with playing all streets. Not at all. It´s just when my stack gets too big, I don´t feel comfortable anymore, i start playing different: agressive, or cautious.. Both can be argued to be a valid style, it's just that somehow i get too caught up in worries for me to read each situation as clear as i could. Which is why I am going with the initial advice, to try to not play the results. But we´ll see.. thanks though
  5. yeah it's the later. thanks, i'll try to do that indeed.
  6. I have an issue, and so far it's the only issue on 0.25BB that is really holding me back from winning more. This is of course not including the 'on tilt' scenario's, which I seem to have at the moment on a weekly basis.I do not mind losing, but when I started out (2/3 months ago), I had the disastrous habbit of losing everything that I would win, constantly break even over a long enough period of time. Now I (think) have escaped this pattern and have gained enough patience and reading skills that I can steadily climb on my bankroll. The pros say that a common mistake between new players is that
  7. Well, .. i have nothing more to add, thanks for clearing that one up aswell as explaining my point in a more sensable way!
  8. Well, it depends on the read of course.. I didn't mean to imply how I would play the Aces pf or otherwise. Just meant to point out, that the chance of your Aces getting beat after flop seems to me not all that small. So yes, if I'd bet strong on my pocket Aces (when I feel comfortable enough that someone else has a pocket pair) i'd rather do it preflop then after the flop, chances are A) the opponent will have a pocket pair too if he calls, and the chances of the Aces losing to another pocket pair is less then to a hand with (suited) connectors.Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd avoid betting to
  9. Instead of being catchy with your responce, it might be beneficial to support your perception by reasoning. Though being an absolute beginning, I definately see truth in what AcesUp says in that post. And notice the same truth in my own play too, which is why I am happy she mentioned it.
  10. Read the thread matey , it's not about any hand of mine. This I just noticed with opponents, so much so that I wanted to hear you guys on the matter.. I have no trouble playing overpairs postflop most of the time, so I think anyway.. I just noticed a tendency with players to feel way too comfortable with Pocket Aces postflop, and lose more in a hand like that as a result. All this is, is of course concerning the all-ins when one has pocket Aces
  11. Thanks for sharing, I think these things will definately continue to improve my game.. A game of outs, so true.
  12. Is it such a stretch to imagine Villain with a 3? If Villain bets/calls often, he is likely to have a raggier hand. Also, if he has a good sense of self-analysing he knows that people know that he wants to see allot of action.Would the villain suspect you trying to bluff a straight? Maybe, but probably not, seeing the way you've been playing so far. Also: when one has a pair, its not unlikely for another one to have one too, what if he formed a set on the flop?I might be completely misjudging the situation, being the new player that I am, but I´m throwing this out there. If I get corrected then
  13. I think he chose his words somewhat wrong, perhaps he meant something which would not blow your mind up..
  14. Do you use any stat tools for these %? I am tempted to try poker online all natural (no tools/calculators), though I play to win, i also play to be equally good Live as online..So how do you guys get these stats? By keeping tabs on people manually?
  15. I am not knowledge enough to be really giving you a solid responce. BUT.. seeing as I did do some research on poker and I remember clearly in Daniels book on JJ, is the following:They are usually overplayed: They seem like the cards that are not good enough in the big picture yet strong enough not to fold in face of danger. Also another thing is: If you have a pair than the chances of someone else having a pair is bigger (Poker VT, Math example). All in all, seeing as you do not have a read, and it is jacks. I would Fold here as there are AA, KK or QQ (and thus a full house), or just simply QQ,
