  1. Check to make it look like you're scared of the flush. If he doesn't have a flush, a bet will most likely scare him off.
  2. I love checking to induce a spaz on the river when the board isn't as wet because lots of 10NL players will bet their missed draws and weak hands rather than checking and giving up on a nice pot. Such a dangerous board for TPTK, though.
  3. I figured a flush was less likely since he couldn't even have KQhh but then I started to add up all the other hands he could have that have me beat: straights, sets, 2P...Could I have played the flop or turn any better?

  7. It's fine, this guy is a nit. Your A/K outs might not even be good since AA/KK/QQ/AQ make up a decent chunk of his range.

  9. I dump it without hesitation. Hell, I even dump AJo in UTG and UTG+1.
  10. Keep up the good work. That being said, this hand illustrates you still have some work to do. Open-limping KJo in early position at a full table? Blech.
  11. Sure, raise it up. Take the initiative, build a pot for the times you hit your set. As played, since you've played it as a set-mine hand, I just let it go on the flop.
  12. T7ss to be precise. My first thought was concern about a straight, but discounted it for a few reasons:1) I have 2 blockers for any straight involving a J2) QJ would have meant he called the initial donk from SB and then my raise with a gutter+overs (possible, but not highly probable)3) He would have had to open-limp 76 (again possible, but not highly probable)4) If he did turn the straight, why shove the turn instead of making a smaller bet or check-raising?The good news is I am getting more comfortable making these kinds of calls. In my super-nit days I'd fold a large percentage of these.
  13. Funny, so far the consensus of the replies on 2+2 are along the lines of "easy fold."

  15. The interesting thing is that playing Rush actually helps me deal with the variance because I can often recover within the same session. Because I play low volume due to limited time, when I play regular cash a bad session can set me back a few days before I can recover. That makes the bad sessions that much more painful.
  16. I figured the bettor had at least a good Ace so I was looking at Kings as additional outs.
  17. At least my night finished on a positive note with 3 near double-throughs. Crazy game, this poker. I'm probably just not used to the swinginess since I typically play low volume and Rush basically crams several sessions into a single one.
  18. LOL, yes villain was short. I suppose I should thank the poker gods for not making all 3 opponents full stacked...
  19. As for the hand I posted, I struggle with my judgment regarding when have enough equity that I should try to get it in on the flop or turn (and how) and when I shouldn't. I think I was prepared to get it in on the flop but when he flat called I figured I might be able to get a free card OOP by checking the turn. Then he gave me nice odds to call with his bet, so I just decided to call with all my outs (now any club plus Jacks).Would it be nuts to push the turn with my increased equity? I'm assuming villain is on a decent Ace, though a set of 4's is certainly possible.
  20. Hell, I'm getting slaughtered tonight.Stacked off on turn with a set, villain has a gutter+FD and rivers the straight.Lost 2/3 of stack w/ KK overpair to a villain who called my raise w/ 96o, called my pot CB with a pair of 9's, and turned 2P.Lost another 1/3 stack when I got shortie AIPF w/ KK against his AQ and he flopped an Ace.Sorry, just venting. Every time it seems like I'm starting to make progress in my results, I have a session like this that erases most of my progress. Maybe I'm just destined to be Even Steven.
  21. Another Rush hand. Good flop, but not sure the best way to play it out. 22. In case anyone is interested in the outcome, I did (mistakenly) shove. Villain called w/ TT for the flopped set and I failed to hit my flush. Live and learn.
