  1. This is turning out to be a theme in fakepoo's posts. You have to work on avoiding all these marginal spots. In this hand I raise PF. But your range for him on the flop is way too narrow. He could also have 99, 66, 22, TT-AA (yes, players at 10NL limp big pairs). That's why TPTK is so marginal in this spot. I'm not entirely sure how I would play it differently postflop, but there is no way I'm prepared to stack off w/ A9 here.
  2. VPIP and AF don't tell you anything about his preflop raising tendencies. 4-betting at 10NL is about as common as a meteor shower. I would be utterly shocked to see anything other than AA/KK from SB here.
  3. Here I come again with my conservative advice: keep it simple and just fold preflop. Q8 is trash. The problem is similar to the 73s hand - what flop are you really going to like? Honestly, unless you're a world-class postflop player you're just not going to make money playing hands like this.
  4. I think I might have been, dare I say, raising for information. I figured if I 3-bet and he shoved, he likely had me beat. Nevertheless, this was actually a very unusual line for me to take in a hand. I don't think I've ever 3-bet/folded before. But this situation seems to be very common at these stakes and I never quite know how to respond. I raise, CB OOP with an overpair or TPTK, and get raised (often a minraise). His range is fairly wide here, so I struggle with the best way to respond. In this hand I decided to try testing the strength of his hand with a 3-bet. Usually I'll call and

  6. You mean like 10NL? And you think the way to do this is by raising, or even playing, 73s?
  7. LOL, you guys are going to cost him a lot of money. This is 10NL and he's just learning cash NLHE and you're telling him to raise 73s with limpers in front? Maybe when he's crushed 10NL for a while he can start fooling around with moves like that. Until then, the smartest thing for him to do is just fold it and move on.
  8. Easiest way is to look back at two types of hands:1) Hands where you lost a big pot2) Hands like this one, where you faced a tough decisionPost them in the strat forum to get feedback.
  9. Sorry, I didn't read past preflop. 73s?? Why are you wasting your time playing that junk? Are you really going to feel comfortable if you flop a flush draw in a multiway pot? What if the flop comes 752? What if the flop comes T75 and there is a bet and call in front? There are only a few miracle flops you'd feel good about, and lots of flops that can get you into sticky situations (like this one) so why waste the BB limping in the first place? One of the easiest aspects of beating micro cash NLHE is to have smarter hand selection than the donks you're playing against. Where you'll make y
  10. He's playing with 30 buyins, not 3, but he seems to be using 3 as a kind of stop-loss. So the problem is the use of 3 buyins as a stop-loss. It doesn't give you enough room to deal with the natural variance of the game (I lost 3 buyins in one session of 5NL Rush poker the other night). The point is, if you're properly rolled for a level and are mentally prepared to play at that level, then you should only drop back down if your roll drops below an acceptable amount for that level. If you're having a bit of trouble with the variance, then you want to be over-rolled. I'd suggest at least 50
  11. I think I have a man-crush on vbnautilus, he actually uses the correct plural of 'forum'. You don't see that very often.
  12. Sorry, you did offer the first constructive input into the discussion. I'll add you to my distribution list.
  13. You're right, I probably did overreact. But it's not just the reaction to being insulted. I also find it incredibly annoying when people hijack threads or provide completely pointless, invaluable input. If you don't think the topic is worth a discussion, then just stay out of it. I think that's a pretty good rule of thumb for the forums in general. Unless you're a moderator, what gives you the right to go around determining what is worthy of discussion and what isn't?
  14. It sounds like you might be trying to move up too quickly. $15 is only 3 buyins at 5NL - if you have to drop back down after losing 3 buyins, you're either not properly rolled for that level or you're not mentally prepared to deal with poker variance. Which one is it?
  15. It's actually a common move in the micros, Rush or not. I still haven't figured out whether it's because micro players get so excited at a big hand that they just shove and hope to get called, or whether there is actually some strategy there ("I'm going to shove to make it look like a bluff because he would expect me to bet smaller with a big hand to entice a call").
  16. Thanks for coming out, everyone.I learned a valuable lesson here: next time I'll just send interesting articles to vbnautilus.See ya in the forums, lurbz.
  17. I have a pretty thick skin but anyone who claims to not be a bit bothered by someone calling him/her an idiot is simply lying. Even if the perpetrator is a stranger on the internet. I don't like being called an idiot.
  18. See the problem with this forum is now I have no idea whether you're serious or are just screwing with me...
  19. The bigger issue is the psychology of someone who is proud of being an asshole. "I treat people like crap, and I like who I am." Good for you.
  20. A more interesting article would be why some people find it necessary (and acceptable) to insult people on the internet whom they've never met.
  21. I assume you're referring to your SNG grinder thread? I just went through the entire 26 pages and here's what I found:1) I posted numerous strat posts, many of which you replied to with non-asshole posts2) I did post a couple of expressions of frustration and one or two "lol donkfest" hands3) not once did I see a post from you asking me to stop posting anythingMaybe you should get your facts straight before you draw conclusions about people and insult them based on those conclusions.Oh, and LOL at this attitude that it's okay to be an asshole as long as you're honest about it. What is this wo
  22. I disagree completely. If you react by insulting people and treating them with a general lack of respect, that is a bad thing. It's not just how people are. Being mean is not like being dumb - it is a choice you make in how you interact with others.
  23. lurbz, you're just an ******* plain and simple. Does it make you feel like a big man to insult people unnecessarily? Is that really how you go through life? Maybe you're the one who is too damn stupid to engage in an intelligent discussion, so you just insult the person who starts it. Or maybe you're just an internet bully, who has some serious self-esteem or emotional issues so he likes to push people around. FCP would be far better off without people like you here. Please stay the hell out of my threads and I'll definitely stay the hell out of yours.
