  1. He's actually had some success in tournaments before the ME, in smaller fields than the ME, so I think he's being underestimated.http://www.pokerpages.com/players/profiles.../jamie-gold.htm
  2. Had to post this link to make sure people who read this topic got a counter-view to what the Defamer site posted ... and with anonymous quotes at that.http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...showtopic=73268We all gotta take internet news with a grain of salt before jumping on anyone's case.
  3. There are reasons for tithing, but don't worry man, this is the wrong forum for discussing that.I agree with you, though. If you have a little disposable income, giving to charities is great. Plus, if you live in the states, and earn in dollars, you'd be surprised at how big a dollar contribution is in other countries. On a similar note, Phil Gordon's Roshambo is on it's 2nd year at the main event. Great charity that helps in the fight against cancer. I think it was Mike Sexton who said that giving to charities is the only thing the poker industry must do more of, just like golf does.
  4. I never thought of it that way. That's actually pretty good. That's planning my bankroll and tithe at the same time. Now, I'm inclined to do that. You've been doing this pretty long, haven't you?
  5. Thanks for the responses, everyone. What I've been doing was tithing out of every win, but recent losses have taken their toll on my bankroll. I have to think about it, but I'm inclined to follow the 3 month thing, which should help me absorb the losses better, and might even make my tithe offerings bigger, since I have more ammo to work with.Flushgarden, I'm also looking at the - decide how much to remove from your bankroll, and tithe from there, but that might mean I might not tithe for a while. I really wanna build up my bankroll, hehehe. And yes, I believe tithing has it's rewards too.I'
  6. @navybuttons, I hear what you're saying. 3 months should better cover the swings of a good run and some bad losses. Is that what you do?
  7. Thanks for your replies.@Flushgarden, So if my goal, at least for my bankroll, is to not spend from it at all and build it up first to a decent level, I don't tithe from my winnings yet, because I haven't considered my possible future losses yet? Or do you just mean cash out from the casino, which in my case is after every session?@Squamch, So I guess you decide how much to remove from your bankroll, and you consider this the profit part, and tithe from this amount. Seems like a smart way. I never thought of it that way.
  8. Sorry, didn't see that section. But this is a poker related question about Bankroll, not about something non-poker related. Anyway, apologies if I'm wrong.
  9. Hi All,I'm new to the forum. I read somewhere that DN is a Christian, so I thought either he or one of the other poker playing Christians here can answer this question. Sorry if this has been addressed already; I've tried searching the forum, but majority of what I've read is just about justifying whether poker is allowed in Christianity. Also, I just wanna ask the Christians, because if you're not a Christian, the tithe isn't part of your beliefs anyway. The question ...How do you manage your tithing with respect to your bankroll? I've read advice to treat your bankroll as your business c
